very glad to hear this. while he is not always the most skilled player on the field, his work-rate is consistently outstanding. i thought his effort in the first two quarters was key to setting up the win against the saints.
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know

Am I blind? I didn't see a quote to back up the headline. I didn't see anyone saying, "I will play next year," or "Maxi will be captain next year...or as long as he keeps playing."

In fact Roosey's quotes leave me thinking the door is very afar concerning who is playing or captaining next year. He is being extremely positve...yet doesn't make any predictions about next year. In fact, they "are yet to sit down and discuss next year."

        Wherefore comes the headline?

Exactly. There is no guarantee at all... once again a very misleading headline that some people take literally.
"As a player he simply should not have been able to do the things he did. Leo was a 185cm, 88kg full-back and played on some of the biggest, fastest and best full-forwards of all time, and constantly beat them." Roos.
Leo Barry? you star! We'll miss ya, ''Leapin''.

Why would they write that if he didn't say so. I don't think it is misleading.

                And from the Swans website

Although he tries not to think about the future, Maxfield admitted he would like to play on next season if his form and the match committee allow.

Given that their seems to be no outstandingly obvious successor for Stewie (Goodes, B1, Matthews, Kirk and Crouch have all been suggested) maybe another year will enable a successor to emerge.

Beacause that's just the way the media works.

A headline is there simply to grab attention, not to accurately represent the article (or the facts).

Both his form will be fine AND the the committee will gladly have him back. Maxfield WILL captain the Swans next year.
