There are probably already a few likely flanker types amongst the up and comers - Dempster, Malceski, Davis in a year or two, Sundqvist.

Chances are that they won't all "make it" but I think it would be one of the easier positions to fill from the existing squad if they wanted to move Kennelly further upfield.

    OR harris - kangaroos variety

    OR thompson - melbourne variety

Either would be nice but can't see their current clubs letting go, unfortunately.

i was exaggerating... i picked our MVP on purpose

but giving away buccy for hadley or brennan has just as much chance of blowing up in our face as every other monumental trade stuff up that we've ever done...

i do agree lizz about the flanker types, however, shattock IMO is more than a 'flanker-type' - he has some great tricks and poise, he wouldnt go astray IMO

id like to know when simon black is coming out of contract, if he were available id offer bolton, fosdike, ablett and a first round draft pick for brisbane as trade, then offer him 900k/yr, as good as the brizzy midfield is, he makes em look at least twice as good, watch last night's 3rd quarter as proof!!!

i know u have a lust for mitchell lizz but mitchell's 12 clearances a game is quite often 8 blind kicks out of a pack, black has a ridiculous amount of time on the deck and fires off the handball to an outside midfielder streaming past, which leads to good delivery into the forward line.

in fact, jude could learn a lot from black, so maybe, shop ablett and fosdike around for a first rounder and then give brisbane two first round draft picks and nicks

we should concentrate on acquiring black
          C'mon Chels!

My "lust" as for last season's model. Even before the injury, this year's isn't working quite as well. Agree that Black would be wonderful but I suspect it will remain a pipedream. Even if the salary cap finally took its toll on the Lions, they know how important Black is and he'd be just about the last player they'd let slip away.

And although I know you're only being 90% serious, I'd have grave reservations about giving up two or three AFL standard and ready-to-play midfielders and playing more than 10% of the salary cap for just one player. He only needs to slip on a banana-skin and he's gone for the year. Furthermore, having an evenly balanced midfield is, I believe, more important than having one star. Otherwise you come across an opposing team with a Brett Kirk playing and suddenly you're in trouble. Black does make the rest of his team mates look good, but arguably so do Power, Voss and Lappin.

Thing about Black is he made it very clear once he has finished what he is doing at Brisbane he wants to be traded back to the West, he said this to Brad Hardie on 6pr at the begining of the year when Hardie put it to him, he said also when your apart of something as great as the current Brisbane team you can't/want to leave, I guess thats why its hard to prize Brisbanes players away.

In saying that you don't always get much choice where you go.

I know you guys are just talking but what you are really demonstrating is complete disloyalty to our players. We demand loyalty from them but don't give it in return. If I could summarise the discussion to date all but a small handfull of our players are tradeable if we get the right players in return. Our untouchable I suspect are untouchable until they get a run of injuries or a form drop off. Not much loyalty there. Any players reading this 'hypothetical' thread may well feel that they don't owe us any loyalty and if a better offer comes their way they will jump. I can't say I would blame them.

Imagine logging in to a chat channel and finding your wife/husband/partner talking about trading you for X, Y,Z or any suitable trade if they became available. You might be forgiven for not investing much emotion into the relationship from now on.

My feeling is that trades should be a mutual thing. If a fringe player thinks he can get better opportunities elsewhere and the club wants to and can arrange a trade then good. Like the Licuria situation. I would prefer the indication come from the player first or from another club expressing interest in a player from our club. In the latter case our club (if interested) can tell the player another club is interested and are they interested. If the player says no then end of story.

I know footy is a tough game but nothing tears a club apart as fast as disloyalty. On the other hand clubs with few stars can achieve a lot when playing for their team mates, supporters and the guernsey

Get of your high horse actually get back on it and ride off on it, what we are talking about is a real reality of our game and we have made it clear its just talk and what ifs.

And in fact I don't think you would find anyone more loyal than Liz and Penga.

power, black, voss and akermanis are usually running past

its a chicken before the egg argument

                    gardiner feeds the WCE midfield

                    black feeds the fab 12

i do understand what you mean lizz, re: banana peel

other players we should be looking at, would definitely include one of jamar or jolly of melbourne... they get little, to no, gametime and with the re-emergence of white, they will be seeing less and less

either of them arent bad ruckmen either, in their own rite
