There is an extremely high risk in drafting 25 year olds (or around that age) as they havent been tried at AFL level, and probably wont improve much as their body is already mature.

I am forced to break from my self imposed exile here, to make a stand for Fitzy.
The kid kicked 5 goals on debut and had 11 (from memory) after 3 games. As Lizz pointed out his age had nothing to do with his injuries, the guy was an absolut gunn, and to question his footballing ability or the rightness in drafting such a gunn, is down right wrong and misguided.
Fitzy was one of the most talented and unlucky bastards ever to go through the AFL draft !

But he is holding down a regular spot in a team well in the top 8 - and that is hardly the stuff of rookie lists.
while he is holding on to a spot; i hardly think he is holding his own...

i agree with you lizz that we have too many of his 'types' in our team and yet people cant see it, the rookie list call is more for the realisation of other people how little we would need him in our squad... who would i prefer in the team:

      mcveigh vs crouch?
      mcveigh vs mathews?
      mcveigh vs fixter?
      mcveigh vs bevan?
      mcveigh vs buccy?
      mcveigh vs kirk?
      mcveigh vs ablett?
      mcveigh vs etc

he would be wasting a spot on our list when we will have troubles with numbers, as is...

and the bombers are pretenders, they are not well in the 8... they are being further and further found out. even with their love child mcphee in the middle they couldnt get enough run

I doubt he will shaft the Bombers like that. We'll have to give up something if we want him.

"(Sheedy) questioned the effort of players such as ... Mark McVeigh ... - players who now all have plenty of experience behind them and should be producing more."
