    Today's games wasn't all roses.

We played a team that won't play finals this year -- and who had at least as significant omissions as us -- and between half time and the fifteen minute mark of the last quarter, we allowed a 40pt turn around.

Typical inconsistency -- and still a worry.
well you just keep on worrying. I'll take the win any day and my ulcer will be all the better for it
If u don't believe me, I will knock your bloody teeth out and not pay you a cent.

And Goodes'y has got to play it a bit smarter, when he ponces around too much I am afraid he looks a very dumb footballer!
He is playing the way he is to protect his knee. There is no way he is playing his natural game and to be critical of his style right now shows a lack of understanding of the game, and what he is up against. Carlton supporters at the game agreed it is a crying shame to see such a gifted player handicapped the way he is.

That win didn't affect your ulcer?
The Collingwood win didn't affect your ulcer?
The Hawthorn win didn't affect your ulcer?
The Geelong win didn't affect your ulcer?

I reckon Goodesy is just playing out the year, giving what he can to the team. We have to have him at CHB coz we have noone else tall and strong enough to fill the gap. He needs a preseason to get used to his handicap, and also to learn how to become a true CHB (if that is where Roosy wants him to play).

If only we had someone in our coaching group that had some sort of experience playing a few games as a CHB to help him out...
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

but perhaps it is too much to expect Roosy can teach him all the tricks of the trade midseason when he has so much else to worry about.

But on the other hand, Roosy was never such a close checking CHB as it is. He just read the play beautifully. Maybe he is trying to build Goodesy in that mould, but the reading the play will take time.

IMHO, Goodes is clearly not suited to playing the role of a close checking backman. His best position is on the ball, or as an attacking backman (a la Barry or Kennelly). I can't wait for Schauble to return to free him up.

And I think the Swans should be looking to recruit another key backman so that they're not forced to stifle Goodes' game by making him a responsible backman.

yep. i remember being frustrated in his first year, cause eade would just throw him wherever they needed him. the positive is that he can do ok anywhere on the field but i think he is at CHB at the moment because we need him there.

maybe they will work on the position with him in the preseason, but i imagine the long term plan is to have him on the ball. if he needs to be thrown back, he can be. all in all he's done alright back there, given the circumstances with injuries. (his and others)
