I dont think he is 93kg yet, penga. It is probably just there to attract the recruiters to his body shape more than anything else.

I agree that we have enough potentially young players who could hold a defensive KPP. We might need to find a player to cover for the short term. Hall(Richmond) fits that bill and that comes around to the idea of sending Crouch to Richmond's way. Perhaps Crouch + our 2nd pick for Hall + Richmond's 2nd round pick and then use Richmond's 2nd round pick to draft the young kid.

Great lets just add Crouch to the trade list. Ray Hall isn't good enough to be the player we want him to be and with Schauble now in the side, why the hell would you trade Crouch who is one of our starting 18 for a player who we only would be adding for depth.

In any case I think too many people are worried about our defence for nothing. After Schauble we still have James, Rogers, LRT and Saddo as options for the back up key defence post. Plus we have C.Bolton, Saddo, Leo and Goodes who can play at either FB or CHB. A full back line of Leo Barry, Andrew Schauble and Craig Bolton and a half back line of Kennelly, Goodes and Bevan is strong enough, with the likes of James, Powell and LRT capable of coming into the side to replace anyone there. Plus with Crouch, Saddo and Fixter in the Best 22 they can also go down back.

I don't think defence is the worry some are making it out as.

The numbers are often indicative more than accurate for the U18 players. It has always been the case.

Crouch is in our 18, yes. But the next one in line (Fixter, Bevan) for that position is not that far behind him in term of quality.

Hall would be an average tall to fill in so that we could develop LRT, James and others. Could use him for about 2 years. He will be competive. After that, LRT, James, others would be ready.

The key is to get the Richmond 2nd round pick (~ 20th pick overall). This should give us the access to one of the rucks available in the draft. They are about 5-6 of them, one should last to that pick. By our 2nd round pick (probably ~30 overall), it would be highly unlikely.

again, hall is contracted!

the only way to develop james and LRT is to actually show some faith and play them there... not have some depth player taking up their precious game time

if you were too look for a player who would develop these two, look for a coach to do it... get jakovich over here or silvagni or dunkley etc

What crap

So you are saying we should give up Crouch, an important player in our team set up and game plan, a good leader and role model as you pointed out in another thread for an average backman to use as a back up and the chance to draft a ruckman who may or may not make the grade for a few years.

Sorry but that too much to give up.

that is why richmond would laugh at us...

after hall, they have gaspar, kelloway and zantuck as key backmen. gaspar is WAY past it. zantuck is too small. kelloway is a third string backman.

they could potentially move morisson back there but that is unproven

And I agree with Robbie..Ray Hall is not the player we want...he has had a very ordinary year...which means that if any in the Swans hierarchy do want him...we should be aming to get him far cheaper than might have been the case at the end of last year

Trades should come from the following: Fosdike, Nicks, Powell, Mieklejohn, Ablett and maybe Mathews (though again this would be a tough call...he certainly gets the ball I just dont think he does enough with it)...depending on their form for the remainder of the year, e.g. if Ablett plays like he did last weekend he would stay, same if Nicks keeps up the form he has been in

Keep our first draft pick, trade our 2nd and one or two of these players for a 1-5 draft pick or a top tall defender if one is available

I personally think we need to make some hard decisions on some of the youngsters - Miekeljohn, Thewlis, Dempster, Sunqvist, Malceski.

These guys have been in the system for 2-3 years and have been passed by the likes of Bevan, Buchanan etc and we may have to take a punt on letting 1 or 2 of them go...harsh I know because some of them havent had a chance through injury or through the good form of those in the seniors to show their true wares. Powell for example should be showing far more than he does at reserves level if he is really going to make it

I think the likes of Rogers deserve at least another year, McGlone may get a chance this year but he has done enough to suggest he will be there next year

So just where does Andrew Schauble fit in your Grand Plan???

Schauble is our number one option at Full Back, so in reality all you are saying is, we must trade for Ray Hall, so he can either sit on the bench or play in Canberra???

No drama. Schauble if fit plays on first KF, Hall as back up ruck and on resting ruckman. James/LRT on their second KF.

Crouch would never be our captain. That is a reality. When a good average player becomes our captain, it would mean we are nearing the end of the table than the top of the ladder. If we put Crouch on trade table, the best offer we get would be a good 2nd round pick, plus or minus a bit. That is about the market price for him.

We will get nothing for Nicks, Powell and MJ. Fosdike, may be something, that is an option. We will get for Ablett probably the same thing we got for Stevens, no more. Mathews/Crouch are only players who will give us something back good.
