    Brett Kirk's attitude

My choice for next captain , not only because it'd justify his nickname , but also because he plays his heart out every week.

Here's a bloke who's future was once in doubt but who's worked extremely hard to become a fixture in the side.

His attitude towards the fans is impressive : he seems genuinely appreciative of our support and comes closer to the supporters after a win than any other player.

Well done Brett Kirk - you are a refreshing contrast to the overpaid , overrated and overindulged prima donnas found in some sports.

      Here, here. I second that!
He is nothing short of fantastic in my humble opinion.

Then if Fevola was captain of the Blues we could have the battle of the hair! As long as McPhee doesn't take over at the Bombers - he and LRT look like their pre-game prep is plugging into 240 volts.

Jude stepped up last night. But Kirk and Baz have every game this year. The Captain is a champ and deserves all the accolades he gets. Interesting that he is the subject of near-universal praise over at his own thread on Big Footy at present. (Apart from one Dees supporter who said he wouldn't get a start at Melbourne and someone replied "that's because the Dees don't like winning" LOL)

Kirk plays every game with great courage as well as being a great media reply person.
His interview last night was tops. Said what he wanted and said it very well and then got away.
Kirk you are a champion. Lead the charge next week against the Cats.
                    Love those Swans

                        Why?

He is playing fantastic foty, for sure.

But there is so much more to a captain.

                        Is he the team clown?
Is he introverted a lot of the time?
                        Does he want the role?

He MAY be a great candidate, BUT...
Don't think that being a great football player automatically makes a great captain.

CTS, you seem to not be noticing that the gist of this thread (welcome abord the bandwagon, everyone, BTW) is reinforcing what some have been saying here for some time.

That is, that Kirky is not JUST a fantastic footballer, he is waaaaay more.

Firstly, he is a (soon to be) All-Australian midfielder who starting with below average talent. Not even drafted, FFS! Getting the best out of yourself. Check!

He is incredibly articulate (see his articles) honest, tough and brave. Did you see the way he jumped up after being flattened? Here's the though process he had

"Oh my, God that hurt, holy crap I think I'll just lie her for a while.......NO, WAIT. Who am I? I'm Brett Kirk, leader! Now I'll just jump up with all sorts of energy looking none the worse for wear. OK, where's my target?.....There...... Right, then, what's my next job?"

Didn't that moment look familiar? Shirt-Front Pickett? Cheap-Shot Kerr?

8 clearances, 30 touches 0 clangers playing (mostly) on the Brownlow medallist midfielder.

Sheesh, what does a bloke have to do, CTS?

I'd just like to say that I've been on the Kirky bandwagon for a very long time - a few years easily!
