Guys, let's not just leave things here where nothing can be done about them. How about taking our grievances to the SCG Trust directly by emailing them at [email protected].

I'm going to try and write a letter to the Telegraph, as Australia's biggest city deserves far better facilities that what we put up with at the archaic old SCG.

How can a true supporter be prepared to miss half a quarter!!!, 10 mins even 30 secs of action because they are standing in a beer queue.

      I can't beleive it.

I rang Swan's membership, and Belinda assured me that the issue of the black poles would get an airing at their next meeting with the SCG trust (this week)

At half time I had to resort to the old tactic of buying two beers and hoping like hell that no idiot kicked the second one over!

Oh for the good old days when you went to the van at the bottom of the hill and bought a six pack. Last time I did that was at Kardinia Park.

There was no action to miss my friend! Saturday night does rate as a game boredom epitomises.

The beer queue actually meant some perve action at the very least ha

I had 8 or 9 friends there with me and I go to the footy to spend time with them chatting footy and having a laugh and the beer queue was no laughing matter.

Stand by stand, the Ladies, the Members, the Noble, Bradman, Walters and then the old Hill.

The catering company has to be fired (I can take care of that as soon as they give me the green light).

They have to rethink the entry and exit points to the ground and stands as well.

This is the last I will whinge here for the rest of the week!

I suspect that Sanecrows suggestion that the TV people would also complain was probably true. Whatever, it looks like the back post issue is now resolved. I received the follwing reply to the complaint I sent the club.

Thanks for your email. The Sydney Swans were not aware the nets were going to be up on Saturday night. The AFL and SCG Trust made the decision to put the nets/poles up as a test to reduce the risk of injury to attendees sitting behind the goal during the team warm up period.

When we realised the nets were up, it was too late for them to be removed.
            Moving forward, we have:
Informed the AFL and SCG Trust how disappointed we were not to be consulted regarding the poles
The poles will be removed for remaining games in 2004
We will be consulted in future
In regards to the beer queues, we will address this with the SCG Trust and caterers at our regular post match meeting.

            Kind regards,

Even better, I wrote to the SCG Trust sending this link indicating how angry people are with the state of the ground at the moment. I got an email the next morning from the SCG Trust ANd got a phone call from a somewhat pieved "Baldy/Goldberg" the security guard, wondering why I had a go about there being no security behind the Cheer Squad on Saturday.

They are at least listening to us these days. It seems in this day and age writing emails of complaint are taken very seriously.

It isn't the club's fault that any of this is happening. But it is still great to see Paul fire off an email to you as quickly as he did.

Got this reply from the SCG Trust

                      Dear Julian,
Thank you for your email regarding the black goal posts and sincere apologies for the late reply. In response to your feedback, I make the following comments:
The goal posts located at the Paddington end of the SCG were in that position for the Swans v Adelaide game only and this process was not repeated for the remaining Swans matches played at the SCG.
The initiative to keep the black posts in position during the main game was a consultative decision made between the AFL, Sydney Swans and with the agreement of the Sydney Cricket & Sports Ground Trust. The aim of which was to identify ways to minimise the potential for safety issues during the pre match warm ups by both competing AFL teams. You may have noticed that nets were attached to the posts during the pre match warm up in order to prevent the footballs from flying into the crowd.
The AFL is continuing to work with all clubs and venues in developing a viable and long term solution to this issue with the aim to improve public safety at AFL games at all venues across Australia.
Thank you again for your comments and we hope you will continue to attend and support future sporting fixtures staged at the SCG.

                        From JF's reply (SCG trust)

                        From my reply (Swans)

At least they god rid of the wretched posts, but who's telling porky pies then?
