Well, it was "alleged" that the coach (Quade) remonstated with the captain (Round) in the very public carpark of the SCG after training over the nature of the "perceived" relationship between the coaches wife and the captain.

It is "widely believed" that when push came to shove the coach ended up with a monstrous black eye.

It is "alleged" that the captain lost his position and his place in the firsts, a little later it is further "supposed" that the reinstating of the captain and the resignation of the coach due to "ill health" also had something to do with the incident.

Is that clear enough?

Anyway, getting back to relevant issues...

the "get rid of Doyle" call is short-sighted. Perseverance, patience and foresight are required re Doyle, as well as a dose of understanding re his position and body type.

I personally would like to see him given more of an opportunity out of the goal square, even if just as a decoy to take the opposition's ruckman away from Hall. I know Doyle can't take a contested make to save himself atm, but with more opportunity up forward his confidence should return in this area.

Fosdike, Mathews and Ablett on the other hand are plentiful types who are replaceable/tradeable commodities - with #4 the only one that might bring a decent return.

Yet when we do get a player with raw talent we let him go.

there is no reason to get rid of doyle considering what we have coming through the ranks. he should have a little more mobility when he is fully fit which i personally don't think he is. he'll never be super mobile i guess, but he is only playing in small bursts off the bench, when he becomes #1 the midfield will get used to where he puts the ball. i was suprised out at TS a few weeks ago when they were warming up how well he gets down to a low bouncing ball.

different point altogether; anyone suggesting magic should go has a seriously "different" way of looking at things.

Our midfield setup is very defensive at ball-ups and centre square because Ball rarely gets clean tap-outs. Doyle gets way more clean touches but the midfield setup remains the same.

When Doyle is contesting we need to roll the dice a bit and get some numbers forward so when Doyle punches the ball forward it may go to advantage.

Doyle is vital to our future and I think he is a gun, not just at the minute. Anybody who thinks 'he must go' truly has NFI, IMO.

Watch the game against Carlton again. Doyle gets numerous hitouts that go forward of the contest yet our midfield setup is to be defensive side of the contest.

Doyle will be OK. In terms of games, he has played not more than 30, and people here want to get rid of him. Footballers his size and talent don't grow on trees, and ruckmen take a long long time to mature.

As for the Quade/Round feud. I was at a Swans function last year, and walked up the stairs behind both of them who were chatting very amicably. Certainly didn't look like a couple of blokes feuding to me

This is a chicken-and-egg problem. Probably they never play long enough as an unit to have a feel for others. As the result, Doyle does not know where the midfielders would want the ball, no the midfielders know where Doyle is palming the ball too. Will improve the longer they gel.

Mind you, changing the way of playing with both feets off the ground is way harder than if they are firmly on the ground.

As they tend to set up much the same way and they must practice together, I find this rationale a bit of a stretch.

If Ball does retire at the end of this year and we can't secure Ottens, I wonder if we should have a look at Beau McDonald. I know he has had injuries over the past two years, and of course that would need to be assessed closely, but he is a good quality tap ruckman, who is going to struggle for a spot at Brisbane now, and could be a useful tandem with Doyle.

What's the point??? So you would rather he hit the ball towards the opponents goal for our midfield to fumble rather than hit it 10 metres towards our goal for our midfield to fumble.
