There were two against Leo - both shockers and both resulting in goals.
On our credit side, Tiger was lucky not to get a HTB decision against him in front of their goal in the first half.
    What was he thinking?!?

I agree Lizz. The only absolutely astonishing frees that I picked out of the game were the Leo (shepperding free ) and the Hall holding the ball

Angry to say the least. Particularly Barry's. AAAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!

Yep, I had my heart in my mouth when Tiger decided to sit on the ball. He just doesn't disguise it cleverly enough like most of the other players. Sometimes he looks plain silly when he starts punching the ground in a vain attempt to look like he's trying to get rid of it.

Rarely comment on the umpiring, and I thought it was average today.

Unfortunately for us the decisions that were poor really affected the scoreline against us today.

It's still not an excuse though, because we have to be able to win games like that

The Leo shepperding free in the third quarter was just plain wrong. The Cats player had hold of Leo's jumper at the time, so you tell me how its shepperding in that case.

Shocking umpiring today and it did cost us the match, but you know what crying over it isn't going to change the result.

i think we had the upper hand in the umpiring decisions between the 50s, in the 50s it was geelong's way...

i dont think it cost us the game, it was the midfield's inability to clear the ball cleanly

Neutral view point - I was struggling to see what Johnson got that free for in front of goal in the last quarter. At first I thought they had pinged Kirk for going high but the whistle had already gone by that stage .... it looked like maybe a trip on Leo? I just couldn't make it out. Any ideas?

Johnson dived forward and I think the umpire said that Barry's arm was down and Johnson's head brushed past it as he dived forward. That can't be a free kick otherwise players can launch themselves headfirst into stationary opponents to get free kicks.

At first it did seem that it was Barry's slight contact was the reason for the free kick. But I'm sure I heard the commentators say something about the 2nd man in giving away the free kick, although for what I'm not sure. On the point of ducking headfirst, there was one passage of play where Gardiner got the ball in the F50, ducked his head and ran, and from my point of view, was searching for a free kick.

Umpiring was not good - but as many have said we have to better at playing the game.
Umpire from Geelong stinks - surely that could of been better arranged.
I used to think umpires were for Melbourne teams - but Brisbane Port Adelaide show different.
Obviously we have missed a fair chance of going anywhere for the finals this year. Too many injuries - now look towards 2005.
Felt Nicks, Bolton 1 and 2, Barry, Hall, Maxfield, Ablett, Crouch etc did very well.
                        Love those Swans

The umpiring was biased - it was said on the 6pm news that Sydney was in the game until some dubious decisions turned it Geelong's way. For the Melbourne media to say that it must have been very obvious. Sydney has to play better and not let themselves be in a position where bad umpiring can cost the game.

Just another unfortunate consequence of being an interstate side.........watch any non-victorian side play in Victoria and see how many free kicks they get paid inside their forward 50.....having a perceived "Power Forward" in Baz obviously doesn't help...the thing that continues to annoy me more than anything about the umpires is consistency....decisions like the Kingsley free kick are just never going to be paid to a Sydney forward line with Hall and O'Loughlin in it, after all they can look after themselves apparently!!!!!

Agree. That's because the umpires mostly come from Victoria.
