    Adam Schneider

    Schneider to make Swans debut
    27 March 2003 Herald Sun
    By ADRIAN WARREN of AAP

YOUNG Sydney rover Adam Schneider will be part of a small group of AFL debutants in this weekend's opening round.

While Sydney's team won't be announced until tomorrow night, 18-year-old Schneider has already been told he would turn out for the senior side against Carlton at Telstra Stadium on Saturday.

Recruited from the NSW/ACT Rams with the 60th pick in the 2001 national draft, Schneider featured during Sydney's pre-season matches.

In his first season last year, Schneider missed the opening months with a foot injury and was laid low for two months by glandular fever, before playing for Port Melbourne in the VFL finals.

Schneider hails from the NSW country town of Osborne and was awarded the McLean Medal for being the best player in division two at the 2000 AFL National under-16 championships.

Schneider apart, only a handful of other players are expected to make their senior AFL debut this weekend.

At the other end of the experience scale, new Sydney captain Stuart Maxfield will make his 150th senior appearance for the Swans on Saturday.

Sydney coach Paul Roos today confirmed All Australian forward Michael O'Loughlin would not play on Saturday after missing the Swans entire pre-season match program because of knee tendonitis.

On the 72nd yr the city of Sydney will rejoice in Premiership Glory.

Great news!! I was very impressed with Schneides' work in the pre-season and knew it was only a matter of time before he got picked!

    Good luck Schneides!

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

You are right Des , it was only a matter of time. First time that I saw Schneider play was in a Redbacks game last year and he was BOG . The next time that I saw him was against the Bombers and he went OK , played reasonably well against the Lions and probably BOG here in Canberra against the Demons . I think that he has a great future and hope that he gets some time on the paddock on Saturday night so that he can show his talent . ONE THING : HE WILL NOT LACK CONFIDENCE.

Yes best of luck to him.

He has arrogance and confidence, it will be great to see how he goes in the big stuff.

            I'm tipping 2 goals.

              Good luck to the rookie.

Hope this is the begining of a new and talented midfield.

If he shows what he has in the pre season,he could well secure himself a spot and we may never see Buchanan get much of a chance, these 2 are fighting for the same position IMHO.

                    Good Luck Son.

IMO they are not going for the same position.
Schneider is more of a midfielder/rover, whereas Buchanan is more of a half forward/crumber

Pretty good stuff to open your senior account with. Sure hope he sticks with these sorts of performances.

Did really well. Very very well. May keep buchanan out of a spot, its hard to justify buchanans recall with a similair player in schneider playing so well, and a star studded forward line such as the swans. Cant see him coming back if schneider keeps these performances up.

Buchy and Schneids are very similar players for me, the major difference is that Schneider has more pace, and appears to have mopre belief in himself.

                              I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.
