I have to agree with Magpie that Maxfield's disposal into 50 is generally quite good.

But he continues to turn it over when it counts!

He's tough, he is apparently a great leader, but in my opinion he would struggle to get a game at most clubs.

Any number could get the captaincy job. Media prescence in such a crucial market may play a big role.

Didn't stop them appointing Maxfield though.

I would like to see them appoint Barry Hall. The further acknowledgment of his seniority will see him soar even more.

The difference in Barry's game since he realised just how important he is has been amazing.

PS: I thought Nicksy was back to his old self playing on Farmer after half time!

Just a small point but i think it was Medhurst Nicks played on and did a great job.

I tend to agree. I thought he was good (relatively speaking of course) for much of the game, although made two poor clangers.

Just a counter to this, have a look at Buckley who slotted a couple of key goals in the last quarter against the Bulldogs. Maxfield needs to kick those important goals (BTW - negative comparisons to Paul Kelly earlier in this thread are not particularly valid as Kelly was a very ordinary kick for goal).

If you want to single out a player who had a lot of it , but did virtually nothing , why not cite Jude Bolton's first half performace ?
Haven't seen it yet , but I guarantee JB will be on our best list on afl.com.au, purely due to his number of disposals.
And IMO , he does not deserve to be.

Yep - he was named our best by most media. His first half was next to useless. I closely watched each of his possessions and I don't recall a single effective one in the first half.

Sorry for having an opinion that differs from yours,the supposedly intelligent pie fan says that Maxfield consistently delivers to the forward line,well i must be going to and watching the wrong team because the guy im watching in #11 seems to pass directly maybe once in every five.Stuey used to have pin point accuracy,he no longer does,its sad and dissapointing but its the truth.If he is to give us anything next year remotely resembling his best i think he needs to be taken out of the captaincy and used as a pinch hiter of the bench,and he can also act as a mentor\advisor to the new captain in their first year,surely some people can see the sense in that.As for his game yesterday he got it a bit then did nothing with it but turn it over[9 out of ten times easily]and his direct opponents [walker&mcmanus]had just as many touches but did a hell of alot more with it,Imo as the captain its just not good enough.Stueys has been and is a good player but as a captain surely you need to lead from the front in all facets of the game and set the standard for the rest of the team.

This is just your opinion, not fact, and is no more valid than my or anyone else's opinion?

This is demonstrably bull****, and barely worth responding to. If you're going to manufacture 'facts', at least try to make them believable.

Look at the port game, we were being flogged and he kept going and going and never gave up and the rest of the team had a semi go at it.

The same thing happened yesterday.

Hardly a dud captain or player IMHO.

Just checked his stats 16 kicks 6 handballs - not a bad day on the face of it. I know the one you mean in the last 1/4 but he was 'under the hammer'.

Adam Goodes
Jude Bolton
Tadhg Kennelly.

Ok all seems like im out numbered on my thoughts on Stuey,i will add that i proudly wear the number 11 on my swans guernsey to each game and Stuet is by far my favourite player at the club.Because of this i spend alot of games just watching him,and believe me i hope Stuey fires up and makes a mockery of my comments and captains the team next year.But on the other hand it will not surprise me in the slightest if he steps aside and tells the club to name a new captain next year who he can act as a mentor too.Sadly players get old and past it i hope Stueys not.
