Getting back to the original purpose of this thread - my rose-coloured glasses are now off with anything to do with this year - all the injuries, inability to play with any real fluency and even the continued crappy umpiring in our games makes the chance of making much out of this season remote at best. As Charlie said, it just looks too hard from here! Unfortunately I have to say we're just not as good as the top teams this year

I can see the core of a side that could win a premiership in 2006-2007.
I agree with this, and could even see this happening in 2005 especially if the players who were injured this year (specifically Schneider, Goodes, Doyle, Saddo, Davis) have full pre-seasons.

But worringly, I also agree with this:

I can also see the core of a side that simply repeats our efforts of 97-01.
Don't know which I'm leaning more towards - the half full or the half empty glass!

How long is a peice of string? When we are close to 100% fit and have a litle confidence we can match the top sides. When the injuries and unexpected defeats landed I feel it has deflated the balloon! Can we get there - not this year

We are on notice that at the end of the year that the coaching staff will sacrific for a key position player or 2.

Who and when will not be our concern. All we cna do is hope for good players!

PS I do blame the last 2 losses on our washing machine - No lucky red sox and jocks..... I have had it replaced and all will be well for the run up to the finals
