    Players that aren't Match Fit

?When you have got 15 or 16 guys out of your 22 that are match fit?that was probably the difference" ~ Paul Roos

I thought this was an extraordinary thing to say. Why did we go into a game like that?

Have we been playing injured players in a desperate attempt to achieve a good posi on the ladder for the finals. If so . . .

Is this why we've played an unfit Schneider for the last 4 weeks. His fitness would be greater now if he'd spent two weeks on the ball in the ACTFL?

Are we in danger of discouraging players like James, McGlone, Dempster, Thewless who have been putting in great ACTFL performances yet are unable to break into a team full of unfit "senior regulars"?

Will we see a change at the selection table after losing again?

Lastly, I really hope are not endangering "Damaged Goodes'" long term future?

agree 100% on goodes... let him recover already.

the only reason to my mind to play 16 fit players is if only 16 are available!!!

i dont see why we'd play an injured player... i guess players carry niggles but why play people who cant run and who are wrecking their bodies!

injuries are sad of course but the perfect opportunity to try young players
Theres not much left to say

So who are these 6-7 people?

      Out: Saddington, Fosdike and Davis.

      Unfit: Schneider and Goodes.

Pretty much every other major player played a full game on Sunday

I think Roos meant that 6-7 players who played on Saturday were unfit.

I would suggest these guys included
          Williams
          Goodes
          Schneider
          Ball
          O'Loughlin

Dunno about anyone else. Maybe Fosdike, as he was a late withdrawal.

Unfit: Micky O is chronic, Amon looks almost as underdone as Schneider.

he also alluded to the fact that many can't train properly ; this impacts upon fitness.

At this stage that is not an option, Roo's is still trying to get the team into the finals and by the sounds of it none of the reserves players are pushing for selection at present.

If things go pear shape in the next two weeks (a heavy loss to the Lions and a loss to the Roos) then it will be time to give the kids for the hell of it.

Until then, places in the team are to be provided on merit.

What sounds? Have you heard anything about the reserves that we havent? All we can go by is the list of BOGs from the reports. McGlone was elevated to the senior list, but he hasnt been given a go since. Thewlis played one game. James has been the forgotten man.

I agree that until finals are gone you have to play your best team, but how is there merit in continuing to select half-fit guys having no impact, like Schneider, and to a lesser extent Willo and Goodes.

yes pick the best 22.... surely that means the best 22 of the fit players!!! enough playing people who cant move well or who are hampered in any way.... that is what costs finals

Maybe they should supply seats and crutches at the small breaks rather than Gatorade and Oranges!!!

has anybody actually taken into account that the reserves were on a lengthy losing streak...

so somebody named BOG in a losing reserves team deserves a spot ahead of a senior player?
