Was the boo awesome at the game?

    Because it was on TV.

Haven't heard a TV echo like that since, um, I was watching some movie where people were stuck in caves.... lol

    Great stuff.
made me really want to be at the game.

    Absolutely Fabulous.

Besides that, the Sydney clap clap clap, which is normally not so exciting, dominated. At one centre bounce, one Jude Bolton was seen to be clapping to the beat.

    Truly an awesome game.

Thoroughly deserved too, almost as bad as the free Lynch got in the PF final for slipping.

The "Aker is a wanker" chant was a fantastic reminder that we were at a Cricket ground.

Wish I had been there. Can't wait to move back to Sydney in 2 years.

There are few tribal sounds in the world that compare to tens of thousands of angry fans booing the umpire at an Australian Football game.

I was booing Voss for his dive(something I never thought I would do.)Voss went straight to the bench after that ridiculous free with 34 odd thousand people's good wishes for company.

When I got home from the match I watched the commentary on Fox Footy and with the Voss free kick they were like the crowd's still letting them know what they think about it - and how within 30 secs a jeer went to cheer when Matthews goaled <g>

Also the ABC commentators said sarcastically Voss better be careful, he could have gotten a major injury from that Oscar attempt

have always respected Voss and his ability. It lost a little shine last night after that. He's much better than that and he knows it.

                    Shame, Shame, Shame Michael Voss.

I actually took his dive in another light.

I figured that if I was 10m out directly in front and had just missed a sitter, I too would have thrown my head back in disgust, and probably fallen to my knees.

As such, I thought it was less an attempt to take a dive, and just a natural way to react to stuffing up the simplest of goals.

I laid the blame squarely at the umpire.

Speaking of the umpires, didnt they look like little 10 year olds wearing jumbo sized shorts. How bloody ridiculous. Shocking way to go about trying to gain respect and authority.

On another note, although the boo after this goal was fantastic, I dont think it matched the cheering & jeering after Shaun "thank you jesus, my saviour" Hart missed his equally contentious and easy shot at goal.

The Voss incident happened right in front of the Cheer Squad area and I made sure I jumped across 8 rows of seats to give Voss and the umps a piece of my mind.

Has anyone thought of making a highlights package of bad umpiring decisions in front of goal? It would of course have to be accompanied by a laugh track, and naturally Swans games would feature heavily. Anyone got the tape of the Round 6 game against the Bombers?

To answer CureTheSane's question, yes, the boo was awesome at the ground, but I preferred the response to our goal 30 seconds later! It was like 35,000 restless natives being appeased at once! It was a great team goal, seemed as if the decision made the players even more determined to undo it straight away!

(BTW I was talking about the Voss dive. Ranks alongside Lynch's free for falling over in the PF as one of AFL Umpiring's Comedy Classics)

I know, I went troppo myself. Poor that a player I always looked up to would stoop that low to do something like that.

And indescribable that the umpies would pay a free for it.
