I hope we miss the finals

The sooner we can start putting this sad, disappointing season behind us, the better.

    * we will only be making up the numbers
    * less games to suffer injuries
    * longer preseason for the players that need it
    * no more (false) hopes to be dashed
    * an end to the heartbreak

Well, that's how I feel at the moment.

Agree tree - and if we do miss out on the finals maybe it will make the club take a good hard look at themselves instead of sitting there saying "we made the finals" that is a reasonable result. That's crap!

    I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

I hope we make the finals.Although I cannot believe we lost that match we have beaten St Kilda and Brisbane convincingly which means we can play when we want to.
I think we can cause some damage if we make the finals but I am sure it won't fool the coaching staff into thinking we don't need to recruit aggressively as we do lack quality in the midfield and a few other positions.
I thought losing to Richmond was the lowlight of the year but this takes the cake as we had so much to play for given the earlier results.

While I won't ever hope for anything other than the best results (ie: I'm still hoping for 3 straight wins and then some miraculous results in the finals), part of me will be glad in hindsight if we don't make the finals.

Come on Swans, you're not just playing for yourselves, you represent ALL of us!

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

That's the spirit. I hope to be back at that point tomorrow. Still hurting today and also feeling very sad about the tragic death of the head trainer. A going down to Melb on Sat and will yell my lungs out on Sat night.

From what I can see/hear there will be a lot of people in Melbourne next week. Many many people I know are heading down. The boys need our support. We need a win to cheer. Could be just the thing!

Whether we make the finals or not all comes down to the Essendon game in a fortnights time. Based on the AFL sites predictor. Doesnt even matter if we loose to the D's next week.

It comes down to this I beleive, (next games are D's, Dons, Tiges)
                    - Win all 3. probably finish 6th, host Freo in first final
                    - Win 2 (as long as one is the Dons), finish 7th, play Freo in Perh in first final (or moved to MCG)
                    - Otherwise, miss out.

The really important games were North and Essendon (effectively playing for the same spot(s)). Win both, definitely in. Win one, then shoring up the bottom of the 8. Lose both.......

3 weeks can be a bloody long time in football, but I sense this is really going to FEEL like a long time.

Kangaroos should win one (Bulldogs) and lose two (Saints and Lions) of their next three games.

                        Gives them 11 wins.

Can't believe some are saying they hope the Swans miss out on the finals.
Support the team in the good times and the bad, with the History of South Melb/Sydney any finals appearance is a blessing, and from there it is a whole new ball game. Just look at least season vs Port and 3/4 of the game vs the eventual premiers

I always want to make the finals.

I am hoping they do have a good hard look at themselves though, because I don't think this 3 or 5 year plan is looking totally brilliant at the moemnt.

I am very scared we are going to be left vulnerable in the next couple years as opposed to becoming the major **consistent** force that was promised by Roos and his true believers during that very public campaign in 2002.

And Freo could possibly still lose all 3, which will leave them at 11 wins.

I think we'll be playing Freo in the first week of the finals, it'll just depend on where.

Hopefully in Sydney, but I'd prefer the MCG to Subiaco!
