Doyle will get at least one year post-Ball to prove himself. I like Doyle - be patient, he will come around!

Here are his career stats up to and including Kangaroos game (http://stats.rleague.com/afl/stats/p...hen_Doyle.html):

      34 Games
      92 kicks
      51 marks
      76 Handballs
      168 disposals
      15 goals
      303 hitouts
      23 frees for
      32 free against

This is a joke! He averages just over 4 possessions a game!
1.5 marks a game! This isnt including his poor disposal and his inabilty to catch the ball.

Lets compare him to Brad Ottens
      129 games
      896 kicks
      666 marks
      702 handballs
      1598 disposal
      152 goals
      2015 hitouts
      154 frees for

He has to go - its not funny anymore
Dawson, how much time does Ottens spend on the bench? How much time does Doyle spend in positions other than ruck when he is on the ground? The answer to both those questions is not much. But Doyle spends a lot of time on the bench, and Ottens spends a lot of time in positions other than ruck. So their stats can not really be compared.

he has shown some ability to take a hit out... BUT he gets little game time because he is inflexible...

even ball could go forward or back...but doyle can bearly make a contest ..by the time he bends over the balls moved on

but if the club think he is capable and think he can grow then by all means give him the chance
Theres not much left to say

I am willing to bet anyone $500 that Doyle will be on the list next year! He has to be, and he will improve with an injury free preparation. MJ won't be on the list IMHO.

Also, there is now way we will get Ottens - I wouldn't even waste a minute thinking about him. Adelaide would surely be the front runner or even another Melbourne based club - perhaps Hawthorn as Spider is getting on.

Hille is the only bloke of reasonable quality that I could see being let go for the right trade. Jamar at Melbourne is OK too.

How old is Lade? I thought he was about 30?

He'll be 29 in June next year. So you'd guess he has perhaps another 3-4 seasons left.

I agree that his lack of game time limits his ability to rack up the numbers but he has never done anything singular one thing in a game which has impressed me.

To the contrary his skill errors are an issue especially giving away free kicks in the ruck and not being able to take marks.

I thought the first 3/4 last week were about the best I'd seen Doyle play (which is not saying a great deal I'll admit). IMO he needs to be a bit heavier and stronger. He seems to get his hands on it a fair bit but cannot hang on to it or can tap to advantage because he is getting moved around so much. Put him on the Nick Davis' diet.

there seems to be strong mail that Ottens is leaving Richmond but with a definite plan to return to South Australia.
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know

Must agree with Sharpie, Doyle has been second ruck at best for a short time, with some injury worries. Compare to Darren Jolly or whatever. IMHO I happen to think he might come through, it's chancey I know, but you just cannot throw away ruckmen anyway.

Yep, NMW he is younger than I thought by a year or two. BUT, I can't see Port letting him go with Primus being such a dodgy long term proposition due to injuries.

I reckon Goodesy should just run as Ruck Rover next year as this will take some of the pressure off Doyle at boundary throw ins etc.

No - I think there is virtually no chance Lade will leave Port. He is too useful for them.

Absolutely - I've been saying this all year.
