    overall recent recruiting has been quite good..

    i guess players like tingay, allison, russell, bomford and oconner just affect peoples perceptions

      I don't see what the big stress is about trading players and draft picks.

      The biggest thing is to understand where you are really at, and why you are doing it (recruiting). Sometimes players in certain position simply need to be challenged for their spot or the team is that one KPP off a real tilt.

      John Barnes may well have just been a "hole plugger" when Essendon redrafted him - but he was arguably the reason why 2000 was a premiership season for them.

      If you have a solid base, and trade a draft selection so that the team can take the next step - why wouldn't you?

        i guess if a team gets someone like a barnes at essendon and win a flag it was an inspired move... if they get say a tingay and he doesnt play a game and the team struggles along...they were stupid
