And, the media release says that the following charges etc were from video review on Monday. No mention of Barry in the list. He was reported after an examination of the Sunday papers.

A fair go for Big Bald Barry, that's all we ask

      Spot on Liz.

It is mind boggling that Barry will have to face on the basis of nothing more than pushing and shoving while Read who clearly 'struck' Stuey doesn't even have a case to answer.

They brought up the video officer on last week's Footy Show and Eddie made the very same point - that the current system does not entail someone watching the whole game and then reporting back. Rather they watch selected incidents but still don't understand how on watching the 'melee' how Read escaped.

Anyway not to worry, they will still lose to Carlton.

That is beyond belief.I wonder if that report is a hoax?If it isn't then back to the drawing board for the AFL.
BTW I thought the fracas with Melbourne in which Barry gently put Kneescolson on to the ground and the Melbourne players charged in could have been a melee.Thankfully it wasn't.Maybe it was just a mel.

After all, its not Barry's fault that other players rush in and make it worse than it is.

On viewing of the evidence the tribunal will dismiss the charge.
Above is what I wrote on Monday.

Below is a excerpt of a report on what happened at the tribunal.........

"Hall's case was helped by veteran umpire Scott McLaren, who said he did not believe it was a reportable offence.

McLaren's view was also supported by emergency umpire Simon Meredith, who had been 10 metres from the incident.

Hall, while admitting he did swing Nicholson around, said he had been attempting to bring him to the ground. "It certainly wasn't horizontal and aiming for the fifth row," he said.

Nicholson told the tribunal he did not believe there was anything untoward in the incident and he only remonstrated with Hall because he was "more worried about (his teammate) Troy Broadbridge because he was fighting out of weight a little bit with Barry Hall."

Surely Robinson has to be brought to order. I wonder if he actually even saw the incident before saying Barry had a case to answer because no one, not even rabid supporters of Melbourne (who we played) or Essendon (who we were going to play) believed Barry was going to get rubbed out.

The whole incident is unfair of Barry who has successfully mended his ways. Its not fair for the press to continually bait him and taunt him that he has reverted to them.

              WTF

I don't understand the Umps actually stuck up for Hall!!!!

His case was aided by the evidence of the two umpires - field umpire Scott McLaren and emergency umpire Simon Meredith. Both told the Tribunal they didn't believe the incident was worthy of a report.

They were right there - they would have looked like they had failed in their roles if they believed the offence was reportable but let it go on the night only to give evidence against him at the tribunal.

And don't come out until you strart behaving.

Now on, Hall he has not played to the standards he played at earlier this year. This is probably due to the fact that we are less reliant on him up forward, as his team mates are starting to show some good form. So lets see some heavy bustling and bumping that he does so well. And show the bombers they are pretenders.

Can't agree with that. He has had a remarkably consistent year and hardly put in an ordinary performance. If you forget about goals and measure his performances on workrate and impact he's still going incredibly well.

I wasn't counting goals or workrate, I agree that he always puts in a top effort and sets up more(?) goals than he kicks.

I was thinking more of impact on the game as a standout performer. He would've been in the top 5 performers for most of the year. But IMHO, he has probably been in the top 10 most of the past month or so. I'd like to see him back in the top 5.

I'd like to see him rip a game apart and what better game than this Saturday against the bombers.
