Mark doesn't fill a pressing need for the club considering we have players like Jared Crouch, Paul Bevan and Ben Fixter who can all play the same role as good as McVeigh.
I agree we have enuf small defenders who can turn midfielders, crouch, Bevan,Matthews even kenelly

Yep. If we can get Nick Davis for a second round draft pick we can get Mark McVeigh for a third round draft pick.

I actually think that MMcV has been quite good this year and he would find a place on our team.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

McVeigh is a better midfielder than defender, just in our side with Mark Johnson and Solomon taking on more midfield roles it was important someone stepped up down back to take the quicker small forwards. 3rd round draft pick wouldn't cut it, as far as i'm concerned 2nd round pick would be fine - but third round we may as well let him try his luck in the preseason draft. A reasonable offer we'd accept given the situation but not a pick that low.

Agree players like him we have plenty of. How about another big key defender or ruckman as Doyle is injury prone and Ball is not getting any younger. I would go up to Darwin and pick the biggest Goodes type player I can find.

For what it's worth I was joking about a 3rd round... Mark wouldn't be worth as much as Nick Davis was and we screwed the Pies on that deal for a 2nd round pick... so now it is hard to go back to playing fair!

I don't think he adds a lot to our side. He's an okay midfielder but not a gun, otherwise he would spend more time in Essendon's midfield which is hardly stellar. Wouldn't mind him as he's a decent player, but wouldn't give a lot for him. Would trade him for Fosdike.

I agree, a trade for Nic is probably fair.

                  wouldn't trade him for Fosdike

they similar ability wise although different types of players, but i believe that Fosdike has more upside

i would be spewing if i had to watch Sheeds mould him into a quality onballer if we traded him

doubt it will happen anyway, seems to be rated fairly highly by the swans hierarchy
