Can't we all love one and other? Even Oedipus had a mother...I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline

I ask all Sydney supporters to go back and read this thread from the start and answer:
which team is being ferel?
which team is taking cheap shots?
which team is name calling?
which team is being direspectful?
I love all 16 clubs... 16 passionate clubs make for a great competition!!
It dissapoints me to read some of this stuff.
All in all, im heading up there to see a great game between two rival teams. I want my team to win, but if we lose I can accept that we were beaten on the night by a better team. Good luck to your mob!Last edited by Ari; 18 August 2004, 05:24 PM.=================

In Melbourne if somebody heckles our fans down there, they'll sure regret it. They would most probably get 10 people chasing them down the street giving them as good as they got.
In Sydney it is very different. We passively sit by as bogan from Elsternwick and Broadmeadow give us a caning. I got my head punched in by a wanker in Carlton's grog squad back in 94 because I was the only one firing back at their barbs.
I just wish the Sydney fans had more mungrel in them. But sadly with so many white collar people in our supporter base, you just don't get that up here.

As for
"In Melbourne if somebody heckles our fans down there, they'll sure regret it. They would most probably get 10 people chasing them down the street giving them as good as they got"
is that supposed to be a good thing ?
The Melbourne Swans fans i have met all seem well balanced individuals who would have no desire to chase anyone down the street, let alone because they happen to criticise Sydney or the Swans.

I think the best way to make life hell for Bomber fans on Saturday night is to do the following:
1. Remind them that they are not at a home game by outnumbering them at the ground as much as possible.
2. Drown them out by barracking as loudly as possible and by joining in all the cheer squad chants.
3. Annoy them by printing out those numbers and rating Lloyd's and Hird's Olympic-class diving efforts.
4. When we win, sing the club song on the train on the way back with whatever voice you have left.

I just remembered this game, since your all going on about 96:
ESSENDON 3.3 10.4 17.11 22.17.149
SYDNEY 3.6 4.10 8.12 9.14.68
Result: Essendon won by 81 points.
Or, if you want to be economical, we can look at one Essendon player vs. the Sydney Team:
M. LLOYD 2.1 6.2 11.2 13.4.82
SYDNEY 3.6 4.10 8.12 9.14.68JIMMY HIRD JIMMY HIRD, HE'S JIMMY JIMMY HIRD. HE GETS THE BALL AND KICKS A GOAL HE'S JIMMY JIMMY HIRDComment

This is what drives me nuts about many Swans supporters in Sydney. If there are opposition supporters hassling and heckling out our club/ team/players etc etc, people seem to just sit there and shut up, hoping that like a fart they will do drift away. Hence drunks up from Victoria know they will get away with saying what they like. Luckily the likes of the Cro Magnon creatures from the old Essendon Grog Squad are a thing of the past. But cocky loudmouth myopic wankers sadly are NOT!
In 1997 we had this absolutely moronic Dons fan choose to stand right behind our Cheer Squad. He started to mouth off about everything and anything. Of course I started back on him. As I have pride in my club and will not just passively stand there, watching a moron abuse my team etc etc. Security then came up and said that I would get chucked out if I 'started trouble again'. ARGH!!!!
It just drives me nuts having to defend my team and club on my own in the face of opposition ferals in Sydney. Ok, these days there is little hassle, as opposition drunks are kept well away from the Cheer Squad area. But in the past when opposition Cheer/Grog Squads would stand in the next bay to us, man did I put myself in the firing line at times. But I wouldn't have it any other way, as I have way too much pride in my club to sit back idly hoping opposition wankers will just go away.
Sydneysiders still have a lot to learn when it comes to the tribal nature of footy barracking, I'm afraid. And the sad thing is, the opposition drunks up from Melbourne know know we are soft, and kept up being wankers all game unabated at times.
