I don't care which one of you is right, as long as one of you is.

Can anyone answer this. IF Sydney finish 6th and IF the home final is in Sydney, when is it most likely to be? I have just realised I have a wedding to go to on the Sat and am not happy about the prospect of missing a final, having had to miss the prelim last year.

Pretty much guaranteed Saturday night at Homebush- they only seem to play there on Sat nights.

One thing that is guaranteed is that there will be some upset results between now and September (Collingwood and/or the Clones beating Port would be a dream b/c it would open the door to us playing a final in Sydney if we can make 6th; whereas Kangaroos beating Brisbane or Fremantle beating St Kilda would be potential nightmares), so we've got to keep our heads on and try not to be on the wrong side of an upset involving Sydney!

BTW, by virtue of the extraordinary week 1 win over Port last year, I didn't get to see Sydney play finals footy either- I flew out for an o/s trip between week 2 and week 3 of the finals. (One mate asked seriously whether I was going to cancel the trip.) It was a sacrifice that I was happy to make for the greater good.

Yeah, I thought that too. The only time I've been there in the daylight was when the Swans gave us tickets to the cricket. I wonder if my wife would be too upset if I told her she was going to have to go to the wedding on her own...???

Week 1 of the finals would be:
              Port vs Geelong (Football Park)
              Brisbane vs St Kilda (Gabba)
              Melbourne vs Essendon (MCG)
              Sydney vs Fremantle (MCG)

If those tips come to pass we would be forced to play a home final at the MCG.

Whether we earn the right to a home final depends on our own form (win 2 and it's likely), but whether we actually GET a home final is in the hands of other sides. We need the Saints to win both of their games as well as Brisbane doing enough to avoid finishing 5th to get the home final.

too many other things to consider in Sydney for a Saturday afternoon game like families and their sport. Shopping day etc.

The only recent friday night game the Swans have played in Sydney happened about 5 years ago against the Bombers and I believe the club has tened not to request this time as most Sydney fans didn't like it.

I'd guess it will be Saturday night.

I was on the winning side of last years Port game. I had a family wedding in Coffs to go to during the second week of the finals and was going to miss the home final. How happy was I when they won in Adelaide.

Friday night games have fared very well in swans surveys and fan feedback actually. They always tend to draw an event crowd too.

Myles wrote this in the Swans News that the Swans have requested a return to Friday night games next year but understand that it is unlikely given broadcasting schedules.

                  *12 Games in Sydney
*9 Games at SCG, 3 Telstra
                  *8 Night Games, 4 Days
*Minimum of 6 games in Melbourne, evenly distributed throughout the season.

that's true Damien, I forgot about the league on Friday nights.

I only just found my copy of Swans news late last night Hubby had it hidden under a pile of other mail so I haven't read it yet.

if the swans have to play a home final in melbourne then the dockers are my first choice

                      a/ they struggle in melbourne

b/ havent won a final yet... so extra pressure

c/ have the least amount of support in melbourne of any of the finalists (dare i say)

There is no way a Swans final or H&A game would be scheduled for Friday night. Not whilst Channel 9 is broadcasting RL at least.

The Swans and the AFL would just have to be comfortable with it not being live on TV.

Our Friday night games in the past were not live. I reckon they should do one or two a year. Be nice not to go live against the gate all the time.

A Telstra or SCG blockbuster on a Friday night would be fantastic.

I'm trying to answer my own question. WCE and Swans play Sat arvo in Rd 22. They don't have to travel, we do. They like to give teams 7 days if they can (I think) coming in to finals so I'd reckon it would be Sat night. Freo travel to melb for a Sat night game Rd 22. If we play Freo they would probably make it Sun arvo to give them as much time as possible to get over two trips east in a week. Therefore I am going for Freo in the derby. Does this make sense or am I just talking myself into it?
