If you are a member of a participating club - there is a period on the MOnday that allows you to buy tickets.

It is always through Ticketek or Ticketmaster (Melb venues are Ticketmaster)

If you are not a member, you have to try your luck after the member only period.

There is info this months "Swans News"

Don't have the newsletter here- but from memory you could buy 4 tickets per member ticket last year.

Probably work differently for the MCG though?

Grand Finals are totally restricted, my guess is that this year if we make it, it will only be Cheer Squad, Redbacks and Premiership club members lucky enough.

Don't worry, you'll have no problems getting tickets for Sydney v WCE at MCG.

I agree that Swans final is unlikely to be Friday night, but it's not because it wouldn't be on until after the League. Don't forget that under the deal Channel 10 signed, they get ALL the finals. idon't know how they dd it but it was very clever!

If 10 wanted to, they could run it directly against the NRL game.

this is the most unfair situation the AFL have put all clubs outside of Melbourne in. The have dug themselves a major hole that they can't or will not try to get out of.

They should just do the right thing and organise a monetary settlement with the MCG. They get the gate from all finals games. I'm sure this has been earmarked for other use such as junior development etc, but if this is to be considered truly a national competition, all teams should benefit from the rules and guidelines equally. Yes I know all teams have been aware of the situation prior to the season commencing and it could be argued that it is within the guidelines but IMO it is also a direct contradiction to the benefit of finishing 1&2 or 5&6. which is also part of the guidelines.

I don't care that my suggestion of a settlement may seem impractical, or that it could be taking away funding from the grass roots level. I'm not happy that we play our guts out to get an advantage only to have an absolutely idiotic arrangement see it taken away from us.

Memo to the AFL ......... A little forward thinking would not go astray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How foolish of you to think that Melbourne / Victorian teams would be so dominant when you have put in place with the draft and priority picks a system to ensure the equality of all teams in the competition.

I wonder if they will be brave enough to take 9 on regardless. Will we see all the finals live or just Sat and Sun arvo's?

So true. Disgraceful forward thinking - for all the great things the administrators of the code have done, the MCG contract was the most backward thing.

Baffles me. They had invited the Crows to join - had designs on a 2nd Perth team, and were investigating team relocations, all at the time the contract was signed.

You do not sign a contract like that - and at the same time, attempt to become the number 1 code in Australia. AMAZING.

No one can honestly believe that it will benefit the team. It is ridiculous to say that it is a good thing based on the fact that the GF is played at the MCG as well. That fact is not very helpful if we dont make it there in the first place. And 5 weeks travelling is going to leave our team ripe for the taking even if we do end up making it to the GF. As for having the crowd behind us if we play WCE, well it wont be as much as if the game is played in Sydney with about 70,000 swans supporters. At the MCG they'd be lucky to get a crowd over 30,000. And if the game is against the Bombers, well wont that be just fine and dandy.

yes but id prefer the team take the positives out of a situation they have no control over.

Its a crock of ****...but we are stuck with... id rather the players think of ways it will help them as opposed to having a sook and playing crap and exiting the finals!

if we wanted all home finals should of finished first

That is the only way an interstate club can guarantee home finals - yet a Melbourne club like Essendon can fluke all 4 finals at the G but have finished 8th.

The AFL should simply not promise anything to anyone, and announce grounds being used on the Sunday of the last round.

The could perhaps put the V back next the FL too.

Plus the media will really jump on this and attack the MCC.
Even more important than total crowd size is this:

When refusing offers of financial compensation the MC always argues along the lines of
It's not the money, it's our members. They demand to able to go to a game every week"
It will be very interesting to see how many MCC members actually turn up to watch a Syd/WC final. That is what will really embarrass the MCC.

Well let the AFL fly them up to Sydney if they are worried about compensation.
