    Permanent Doyle Thread

Hardly a mention in in posts today. He had 31 hitouts and he just continues to improve. Had my doubts a couple of weeks ago, but he is really coming on. His palming was quite something and he did his work with real purpose. Seems to be learning his craft rapidly. Hope I haven't spoken too soon.

I wonder if his improvement might yet get another year out of Ball.

So if you want to comment weekly on Doyley, just bring this thread up so we can keep pumping up his tyres or letting them down.

And how many of those hitouts found a teammate???

    Most of them I'd say

There was a patch in the 3rd quarter where it was ball up after ball up, and time after time Doyle was putting the ball straight into the hands of Kirk and Bolton - just a pity the Essendon tacklers were so efficient at that point in the game

Doyle has really started to find some form this year.

I must also say some of Ball's ruck contests were awesome. He wasn't just tapping the ball down, he was belting it.

Loved big Doyley's game. I just wish we'd hit him a few times when he went forward so he could have topped the match with a few sausage rolls.

Roos seems to be giving him a lot more game time. This has got to be a confidence booster.

There was also two ball-ups in a row, where Doyle put the first one straight ot a bomber and the next one hille(?) straight to a swan, so that evened things out!!!

A great effort From Doyle, Looks like he might be taking that big step into the big league!!!!!

                Just as importantly....
Its great that we are easing Ball into the finals series.

Ball could go around another year as the backup ruckman. Playing 10 min per quarter off the bench, with occationaly cameos up forward.

I don't see many retractions from the Doyle (ex Sadds) baggers!

Who should we execute this week?

If he can play a solid number of games without getting injured he could well turn into the dominant ruckman we need. Next season is crucial for him IMO. An injury free year with continued improvement would be ideal (as it would be for every player I guess!)

I like what Doyle is doing but it seems to me now Wally Jackson has died Ball will retire this year - as no talk of renewing his contract.

What about the free kicks earnes (by being in the best spot in the Ruck contest) and the pinpoint long pass to Bazza (for a goal)?

Swans count on better luck in the ruck as finals draw near

Doyle gets a good rap in the this article.
