    Barry Hall and his motor

Barry Hall impresses myself more and more every week with his motor ( fitness, aerobic capacity ). He just simply outruns his opponents in much the same way as Nick Reiwoldt, but has the extra component of his game where he can take a pack mark - which Reiwoldt doesn't do on a regular basis.

I would love to know how many kilometres he covers in a game and how they stack up against the Swans midfielders......

This man hasn't had a thread for a while acknowledging has importance to the team, discipline, marked improvement even since last season, leadership ability and beautiful kicking style.

Also, Bazza hasn't thrown a punch ( which is a lot more that can be said for 5 per cent of AFL players - particularly that maggot Read from Melbourne ) since he has been at the club and I believe that the incident with Primus in 2002 would not have been looked at in regard to any other AFL player and still grates me to this day.
Well somebody told me, You had a boyfriend, Who looks like a girlfriend,That I had in February of last year, It's not confidential, I've got potential

One area where Baz has improved ten fold this year is his contested marking. When he first came to the club that was his biggest weakness, even last year this was a bit of a worry.

But over the summer i read he worked really hard to improve this area of his game and it shows. I just couldn't believe how quick he was and how secure his hand are at marking.

He is a complete CHF and the best atm IMHO. Sure tredrea is good, but he lacks accuracy in front of the sticks, where's baz is dead eye dick, along with Nick Davis.

What a forward line we have atm. Its a dream set up..if only we could have 1 or 2 decent midfielders..

Last year they just weren't sticking. It's a credit to him that he's been able to turn it around. His kicking has also benefitted from extra work.

Absolutely - he was not particularly good at overhead marks previously. He just couldn't seem to co-ordinate his hands right. He's still not the most fluid at doing so, but he's improved out of sight and with his great strength he's taking a lot of them this year. Adds an important extra dimension to his game.

The one area in which he is still "weak" compared to some other marking forwards is his upwards elevation. You rarely see him get far off the ground, and it's an area where Riewoldt and possibly Tredrea have the edge.

But it seems unfair to criticise him on any aspect really, because he is as close to a complete footballer as you could want. His work rate and athleticism is awesome for such a large man and it's one area where he runs rings around the almighty Lockett.

thats the best part of hall his willingness to improve... to work harder and always strive to be better

he deserves a brownlow cant see it happening though

he must be a great example to the kids at the club and should captain the swans next!

It is not just his aerobic capacity but his speed. How quick is he?Burned McPhee pretty easily when he was on him.His overhead marking is great this year even though it looks a bit awkward. It looks like he is trying to catch it between his forearms but it is working.

hahah that is soo true and something that i thought about this weekend.

I have never seen him limp off with any injury let alone miss a match. I hope for our sake his injury number is not coming up.

I hope i havent hexed him!!

Any other player and he'd be in hot contention for the Brownlow.

Although I am as sceptical about the umpires as anyone, Baz could be worth a lazy $20.

Ditto. The only time i can think of him coming close was late last year, maybe against Port, where he took a mark and got up walking like he had a rock in his boot. Lasted all of 2 minutes.
Sit down or i swear to God i'll have you shot.

Yes - it was in the final against Port in the first quarter. I thought - oh no - we are in serious trouble. Just a minute later the ball came back, he jumped up and marked it, kicked a goal and away he went!!
