There was certainly a massive amount of red visible. The caps we all got this year make a big difference.
I was in the MCC members. And yes it was quite empty, but still most of the people were swans supporters, except for the couple of Hawks supporters who brought their wooden spoons along!!!

Yeah, that was in the Olympic Stand where we were. On the half forward line at the Punt Rd end of the ground.

That area would have been over 80% Swans if not more. The GSS was mainly set-seat Tiger members except for about 2 bays of Swans members (who obviously had set-seats too).

I like the Melbourne-based stickers "Living in Melbourne, loving the Swans." That does justice to our Melbourne identity, but at the same time does not alienate the copious amounts of ex-Sydney expats who also follow the team down there.

By the way, it was awesome for us travellers to get a mention from Grubby at the after-match last night. The hearty clap was very much appreciated as well. Nice for those down South to realise first hand that there are people who love their club to death up here too.

I went down for the game (a spur of the moment decision on Thursday) and I reckon it was 20,000 Swans supporters there. We dominated the entire Olympic stand and also the upper (general admission) section of the Geat Southern stand. I hope as many of those guys as possible can make it up to Sydney thsi weekend. Swans fans unite!!! And hopefully I'll be back at the MCG in 2 weeks (my poor credit catd!).

Maybe that is something we should approach the Melbourne office about Robbie?

It would be awesome having all the Swans contingent all in the same area, such as at Carlton.

I can't see why when the games are organised they put the set-seat Telstra Dome members in the bays next to us. It would go off!

Did anyone see that desperate Tigers supporter they kept cutting to in the last quarter? The poor bloke was off his face and was struggling badly with his inebriation and Richmond's performance. heh heh

Close enough to zero. And distance (and, I suspect, a less diehard fan-base) means that a lot fewer of them will come over than Bombers or Woods supporters would.

That said, of course, one of the great things about the 1996 prelim final was that at least 3000 Essendon fans were on hand to witness it first hand!

I swear I saw one waving in the midst of the red and white of the cheer squad, pretty much everytime we kicked a goal.

I saw it on the tele, a lot. It looked as though it was smack bang in the middle of the cheer squad. If it wasn't the cheer squad it was another big group of Swans supporters with a lot of very big flags. The only explanation I thought possible was that it must of been one of the Melb cheer squad's kids (or very close relative) who had been given an afternoon's grace because of their tender years...

I sat up the Back of the Cheer Squad like always and saw no Richmond flags anywhere. Might of been behind the Cheer Squad area, but certainly not in the area itself.
