I'd have him, but I would rather have Reiwoldt.

The swans have a good track record of taking VERY high profile players out of Melbourne and shaping them into Club Champions e.g Roos, Lockett, Hall

He has a huge work rate on the ground and this could lift others at the club.

I can't see anything bad about having him at the Swans, except for who it will cost us to get him.
Anonymity? You kidding. He always had a crazed queen stalking him in Melbourne. They'll drive him even more mad up here. (Might even come out up here--did I say that!!!!!??)

He is also from NSW too. Good browny points.

Depends what we'd have to give up for him. But I get the impression that Crawford loves the publicity himself too much. He would just have to concentrate on footy up here, unless he cracks a spot on the boofhead NRL Footy Show or Midday Show. No more Bulger MD, no more being a celebrity.

Still playing for the Swans in Sydney does NOT mean being anonymous these days, you realise.

He'd be a valuable asset to our midfield, no doubt, but it depends on what we have to give up. He said himself that he probably had another 2 seasons left in him, so it depends if Roosy thinks we have what it takes to be a serious contender during his two years here. If not, then we are going the wrong direction by simply "topping up" for no good reason.

So, if we're a contender for flag in 05/06 then, yes - and I'd be prepared to give away more than just a 2nd round pick. Class, pace and attack in the midfield is what he would give us.

I'd rather we focus on another NSW boy..Koschitzke (sorry if I sound like a broken record ). He is contracted until end of 2005, but the Saints maybe looking for some serious salary cap relief soon

I reckon he'd be worth a shot. If a Brownlow medallist comes available you must give consideration.
My only concern would be his age but he could fill the gap left by Willo who may only have one year left.
He'd be a great mentor for our up and coming midfielders and teh delivery he would provide our forward line is salivating.
The downside is the Hawks will want a lot more than a 2nd round pick and a player such as Fosdike. Nevertheless we should see what they want.
Also, TV opportunities for Crawford would be arguably better for him in Sydney post-career so he may see it as a good move.

Agree with all that. Crawford maybe getting on but he's certainly not washed up.

My pick - he'll stay or go to Collingwood.

Maybe I should have worded it differently, Could Eddie and Nathan cope with loosing the spotlight to Shane..

I quite like Shane Crawford, yeah he is thick as a brick, but at the same time he is pretty astute.

As Dr J said, if he was 2 years younger I would be hellbent on getting him to the club. However as it is he is coming off a serious broken arm, and 2 years of back problems before the broken arm, plus he has said he wants to give the game away after 2006.

A good player yes, but not one I'm willing to waste a 1st Round Draft Pick on.

crawf would have to be a direct swap if we took him... one player for him!

and a small player at that

Would we give Saddington & Fosdike and get Crawford and their second round pick?

I think we could alraedy have replacements in the wings for Saddington in Dempster & Powell if they come along (as both are similarly built like Saddo ie. tall & slight)
