The two players who really worried me going into this game were Judd and Matera.

Judd demonstrated his class last night, notwithstanding the performances of B2 and Willo - in the 3rd term he looked like he might get them back into it on their own. Good for us that none of his mates seemed in the mood to give him a hand.

Matera is the best small forward going around by a long way and can produce something out of nothing. He carved Leo up last time we played them - probably the only bad game Leo has played all year. Nicksy was absolutely fantastic on him, and he freed Leo up to play a critical rebounding role.

The whole defence was absolutely outstanding last night.

Agree Liz....the defence has been great all year...continuing on from last year. But last night to keep a quality opposition down to 4 goals was sensational. Great game by Nicksy. Schauble has been rock solid and Bolton, Kennelly and Leo give us lots of run

Great work by the coaching staff last night...the Nicks-Matera matchup was a great move, Willo and Bolton on Judd minmised his influence and 2 goas to Bolts and 31 possessions to Willo put us in front

Goodes up forward exposed their lack of height down there, when it may have been tempting to throw him down back to match up their talls - McDougall and Lynch

and to the fellow who sat behind me hurumph .

For the first quarter he bagged him, even when a mark was taken by Sampi he blamed Nicksy as he left Matera to stand the mark.

I was watching him in the final quarter and was just amazed that Matera had been kept so quiet (no disrespect to Matty, I just respect Matera's ability that much).

Great work by Nicks on Matera, but also great coaching by Roos by putting a tall player on a short player

            You've stolen my thunder (shaker)!

Nicks was also a personal fave of mine most notably for his kicking. I found his form reversal disappointing too and would have been quite happy to trade him. But this season he has really found touch again, last night he was fantastic. I'm glad he's still with us!

Totally agree Dave, his thoughtful and clever play backed up by a bagful of skills - applied appropriately - continues to impress. His tackling is a very strong feature. All in all a valued and important member of the side.

glad i never got off the Nicks wagon FWIW.

the point is, he is able to play both forward and back, and we don't have too many that can be damaging at either end.

Yeah i did say he was gone like his hair, but I also did mention mid last year to play Nicks down back as thats were he played his best footy...

If i could be bothered i'll do a search for the post along with my comments of playing Barry Hall at CHF. They went unnoticed like all of my comments here.

                        Oh well...but Nicksy well done!

Nicks did a top jog and said when interviewed he was looking forward to the job and spoke very well to the interviewer.

Nicks is a great guy to talk to - very natural and he always makes me another Swans fan feel comfortable and able to talk for ages to him.

Hope the Club gets active and signs him on for anohter year or they are crazy.
                              Love those Swans
