    Port Adelaide

Getting ahead of myself I know, but looking at the Port v Geelong game today, I see no reason to fear Port at all. They were harder and more focussed than normal, but still learising around, and if Geelong bothered to apply a skeric of preasure, and had a half decent forward they could have made a game of it. Sydney have both these qualities in spades.

I agree. Didn't think Port looked particularly good at all. Geelong were crap and it looked more like a H&A game than a final. Wait until they run into a proper finals team again who can apply proper finals pressure. Hopefully that will be us in the PF and not Brisbane in the GF!!

      Yep, getting ahead of yourselves!
But seriously, congrats on beating WC.....good luck against the Saints, you should win fairly comfortably against them. IT will be a different matter the following week though.

Geelong played Crap from what I saw, and probably did make Port look better than they were. They allowed Pickett to roam free. Not sure who it was but they dropped a sitter of a mark in the centre of the ground under virtually no pressure. Even the physical pressure they tried, did nothing except get a couple of reports.

If we play accountable football(if we beat the saints) then we should give them a run for their money.

The unfotunate thing now is it gives the bombers a better shot at the GF with Geelong at the G followed by Brisbane at the G.

        How unfair!!!

No way known the Bombers will get over the Lions even at the G (and I doubt they'll beat Geelong either).

I think that too, but the fact they won't have to travel anywhere other than the G, increases there chances. Also the fact they could only beat Melbourne by 5 points, the way melbourne have been playing, this last month does not shine much light on their true form.

they did lairize a bit and looked vulnerable when Geelong made a run at them.

Saw a young school student wearing a bright teal Port scarf at Newtown station. I was wearing my red Swans coat and hat. We were eyeing each other off from a distance of 10 or so metres. Was going to say "see you in 2 weeks" but thought better of it.

AFL rivalry in Sydney, great to see!

Port play an uncontested style of footy that the Cats didn't exploit at all. Once they are manned up and have to kick to a contest their game slows to a dribble.

I had to laugh at their "record" 39000 crowd. To think we were disappointed with 40000 odd on a wet, stormy night. With that kind of support and the fact that they boo any bit of play that doesn't go their way, they have no rights to the flag.

I was listening to the ABC aftermatch. They interviewed a Port player (can't remember who it was now) who himself said that the intensity was more like a H & A game rather than a final. I remember being quite surprised by that comment.

People have to realise though that Port will never attract casual football supporters in South Australia. Most of SA are brought up to despise them. Neither SANFL members (the empty part of the ground on Sunday) nor Crows supporters would willingly pay $35 to watch a Port Adelaide match-unlike MCG Members SANFL Members still have to pay for finals tickets.

Considering Port's finals record, 39000 is pretty good. And they were bloody loud as well.

I am finding myself very guilty of thinking about the Port Adelaide match which is very unusual for me...I live by the "one week at a time" cliche!

Seeing half the family are Saints mad - it simply isn't an option to lose this week.....

The Cats defenitely had two monkeys on their backs. They don't travel well outside Victoria and have a young finals inexperienced outfit. Port wasn't seriously challenged by them the whole game Maybe there were some sparks in 3rd quarter, but that was about all what the Cats was able to produce.

Spot on JF. As an ex South Aussie myself, I fully understand that no Crows supporters would attend a Port game unles sit was to barrack for the other team. I hate and despise Port more than any other team. If we beat St Kilda (I'm trying myself to limit my enthusiasm to one game at a time) RWOers will discover next week just how much we South Aussies can hate Port.

Port appear to be worried about Sydney
