So if we follow the Bigfooty luminary's logic we should just rollover and accept as just part of the game and "icing on the cake", Captains rolling out of the casino pissed as a fart, players pissing on cabs, playing the flute in parked cars in Clifton Hill, full forwards belting onballers in pubs at 4.00am etc. etc .etc.

And some tosser gets on here with a sob story telling us we should leave these poor overpaid heroes alone. Bloody hell.

We help pay their wages in a big way don't we, so have a right to an opinion. We live and breath this sport, it is a way of life. Without us there is no fat salary.

If it's perceived to be then it's correct. Right??

I don't care who likes him or doesn't like him. What I don't like is when things become personal and unfootball related. And as I said earlier I'll agree to disagree on this one and when Nick has that premiership medal around his neck I'll cheer him just as much as I do for Pebbles, or Kirk or Leo or the other 18 players I haven't mentioned.

but don't actors read reviews of their performances etc. Why should a footy player be any different. A message borad is just a different forum to do this.

But yes, I find him an incredibly frustrating player. He culd be up there with Goodesy and Micky O as one of the stars of the game IF HE WANTED TO.
I had to laugh out aloud at these two comments JF.

Firstly, he left Collingwood BECAUSE of the blood and guts coaching.

Second, you compared him with two people who have had the very same criticism levelled at them over the years too. Now they're heroes? Make up your mind Sydney. Goodesy was always "flukey" till last year, and Mickey has always "gone missing" during games. Yet all three players have virtually won games off their own boot.

Those who cant play support... we should all remember that when we get all high and mighty about the work ethic of people who provide entertainment for our benefit.

Well I started this thread with the best intentions and they were to find out if anyone saw signs of complacency with Nick on Saturday night or not. Sorry it degenerated into a personal rubbish fest!

His Richmond game was excellent and I am actually one of the few on here it seems that actually regrets Nick's Round 1 injury more than anything else that has happened this year and that includes Goodesy's knees.

I reckon Nick did work hard in pre-season, in fact very bloody hard and it was a tragedy we didn't see Nick Davis' best this year.

Having said that, at this time of year, I just don't want to see Nick say to himself, "oh well, write this one off as a loss and start fresh next season". We have 3 massive games ahead of us and 3-5 goals a game from Nick Davis is required to get us there IMO.

I totally agree TheHood! Nick Davis has the ability to turn the game on his own boot.

I just hope that mentally he will put on the boots again for next year. Remember he is only 24 / 25 and has a long time in front of him! I hope he dosn't waste the talent he has.

i dont think we should worry about criticising about nick davis

im pretty sure the other 21 swans will be trying to "encourage" him to play team games at training sessions and in the locker room

according to Roos he did have a very good pre-season and looked set for a big year, his problem is that mentally he doesn't seem to handle injuries very well but that big kick to the ankle which could have happened to anyone was unlucky. Having said that there are no guarantees what will happen and you have to continue to work hard. While the Richmond game was good it was the second quarter performance against Essendon which was telling when things were quite tight. To win finals against quality opposition you need every extra bit of talent available and everyone committed to the cause.

Sounds like his ankle injury is one of those things that it difficult to manage.

I find it hard to reconcile some of the comments here about him being a whinger. By Roosy's account here (http://afl.com.au/default.asp?pg=new...ticleid=169795) Nick should have ruled himself out on Saturday.

I'd love to say "Miss this week and get the ankle right so you can be on the ground to smash Port" but I don't think it's that simple.

I visit this site a bit and have a read. I usuly expect to read a whole bunch of crap. What most peeple have said about Nick Davis is the biggest load of it I have ever seen. I was gunna say something last week when everybody was on about it. Now you have started again I cant stop me self. You peeple have no f'en idea. How many of you have even played sport. How many have played at top level. Not many I bet. I have and I f'ed up. When I was 17 I went to New Zealand with the Australian U19 cricket side. I didnt play a game on tuor but I was picked to go. I was playing first division district cricket and was in the state squad. I was gunna play for Australia. Thats what everybody told me. I had heaps of 'talent'.

Everybody always thinks the guy with no talent who works his ass off is great. Nobody says what a waste of hard work. If only he had some talent. His ability is able to work hard. Not to have any skills. I got to be good at cricket by being natrally talented. I never worked hard and never wnated to. When everybody said I should I coudnt. I wasnt interested. That was not my talent. I liked playing a game. I wanted to have fun that was all. I didnt want it to be like work. I got picked in teams and stuff because I was better than other guys. Then when I dindt work hard they tried to make me feel guilt because of the other guys not in the team. You just want to yell at them that you picked me f wit. Nick Davis is the same. He probly feels guilt and gets made to all the time. He probly got to be a star without the hard work. Now he gets paid the big bucks but not because he worked hard but because he has talent. Now he is a star you want him to change. I played VFL as a kid to and I no he is one of the best in the Swans. Get off his back or he will go and end up hating the game like I did. I stopped playing and started drinking and worst. Im only just playing again now but I didnt tell nobody I use to play and nobody nos me here so its ok.

Leave Nick alone and good on yous who stick up for him. Im a fair bit older than Nick and feel reely sorry for him. Just let him be a talent. Everybody talks so much crap here about stuff you no nothing about and its funny. But its not funny when you put crap on someone who is a better footy player than most of you are in your dreams and who probly works harder than yous do in your jobs anyway. How do yous have time to do so many posts in one day anyway.

                              Anyway, goodby, and go Swans.
love how you just assume no one plays sport at the highest level - i have played for NSW 18s in hockey for the past 2 years and have won numerous australian championships and i too have travelled overseas to play sport.... stop being so @@@@-sure of yourself and dont make hyperboles - get your facts straight first before you start mouthing off at the rest of us

oh i forgot to add - an athelete with no work ethic (i.e A BAD ATTITUDE) is no athlete they are mearly someone who has some sort of raw 'talent' an athlete is someone who has the attitude, the work ethic and the 'talent' to succeed. its a whole package - you cant not work hard (bad english but still..) fitness is a big thing. instead of getting all bitter and twisted at us because of your bad luck in life take a look in the mirror and analyse yourself - maybe you didnt make it because you werent good enough, you didnt work hard enough, you werent fit enough, you didn thave the attitude necessary to take criticism and focus on the game rather than what people say.... im sure nick davis is a stronger person than you.
