at trade time, we really should try and get...

    brendon lade,

    ruck, ff, even chb

do what we can to get him
(or daniel bradshaw, much more cheaply)

these to really impress me and db only gets a game when lynch is injured.

if we can promise him regular footy

wouldnt lade be a bit too old (not sure of his age) to recruit. the only positive of picking him up is not having to play against him. he always does well against us. bradshaw would be good, but he'd have to play in defence in our side, whereas if he stays in brissy, he has a forward possy lined up when lynch retires.

I think we should be in the market for a ball magnet midfielder with good skills or a big body down back. I think our ruck division and forward line is already pretty strong.

if we were to pursue one, theyd have to be more than just an all out key defender.

a tall utility would not go astray. they need to play ruck, chb or ff.

thats why IMO we should go for a wagga boy in - cam mooney

he would be so over-priced it would be ridiculous.

koschitzke vs mooney: both are pretty similar. IMO, mooney is quicker, has better disposal and adds a lot of grunt. koschitzke has a bit of extra talent but is more injury-prone.

mooney, IMO, is played out of position. his best spot is CHB as shown by his shut down job on lade in the second half of sunday's game. however, he usually doesnt get the nod ahead of harley. geelong then play him in the forward line where he gets frustrated as hell or in the ruck where he gets smashed.

bazza at chf and mooney at chb would be imposing...

here's one from left field, someone we've all forgotten about over the last few months. Ray Hall. Now hang on before you all carry on about how he's a hack for Richmond, etc, etc.

When talking about who we should recruit, a lot of it is fantasy land stuff, plucking a name without actually taking into consideration the likelihood of being able to get our hands on these guys. And then you have to consider what you'd have to give up for those guys. Ray Hall is different. He is a NSW boy, and Richmond were lucky to sign him up again after last season. IMO he is accessible, and would probably not cost that much.

He may be a hack for Richmond, but bring him into a good side and you never know what may happen. He is young with plenty of time to continue development. He may be able to develop into a key defender, and he is genuinely tall, so he could cover as a backup ruckman as well.

Ray Hall would be a very handy addition to our side.

If we could pick him up cheaply, I can't see a problem.

I reckon we should also throw everything at Lenny Hayes and Brent Staker.
