Hayes is going nowhere, but Staker is an outside possibility.

West Coast want Stenglien and they do have a number of talls (McDougal, Seaby, Lynch, Glass & Hansen) that all look promising so they could off load Staker.

We would have to deal with Adelaide to make it happen, but maybe our first pick (at 18th ) + Fosdike would be adequate compensation for Staker.

Wow the Crows would be getting a Kings ransom for Staker, the kid may have some talent but hes yet to show it at AFL level at all yet, he cant even dominate a WAFL game at the moment Id let the West Coast develop him and play the wait and see game a liitle longer yet.

If I remember correctly Staker was a late first rounder. He has shown enough when he has played to suggest he is worth his draft pick and you have to give up like for like when trading. I threw Fossie in as a sweetner as Staker a KP Defender and young is someone we are looking for.

But hey, if the Crows want just a first rounder then all the better. They will however want early draft picks this year as they rebuild their side.

At least previously we picked up Gun players like Plugger, Williams, Schwass etc that played at least 4 years.

I am fairly certain he was a late second or third round draft pick, what has he shown lately? I do hear he warms the bench well seriously he may prove the goods but he is definetly a long way off as I have said in earlier posts he is getting a game based on injurys rather than form and if Hansen was fit he would of replaced him and again if Gardnier was fit, if you look at his form at East Freo its been less than outstanding they have tried him down back and up forward and are finding it difficult to find a spot for him, but as we know big men take longer to develop so I will restate my position let West Coast develop him and wait and See.

Dose anyone knwo why Sydney missed out on Hayes, seeing he's a Sydney boy and grew up supporting the Swans? Does Sydney get any type of priority in selecting local talent, as Brisbane does?

Re Mooney, I'm not sure I'd want Sydney to get him (not that its a possibility anyway) as I think his aggression will be his downfall. Then again, look at Bazza.

Sydney and Brisbane get the same priority as each other in picking local talent - ie

main draft - none
rookie draft - three priority selections from players anywhere within the state

Both teams used to have a priority pick in the main draft - we netted LRT while the Lions got Charman. However, the rest of the competition voted to get rid of this, possibly after Brisbane lobbied hard for a tweak of the rules that would have permitted them to take Riewoldt.

As for Hayes, the club's stated position is that it went for the "best available" and chose Fosdike, Fitzgerald and Bolton ahead of the two quality local boys on offer that year, in Hayes and McVeigh.

I don't know if you'd want to wait for a tall to develop further as he may be harder to get (and more expensive) if he succeeds.

Brent Staker is 5 months younger than Sean Dempster and seems to be ahead of him at this stage (he played 17 games this year including last weeks final). I certainly believe Dempster will be given more time so naturally I would be keen on Staker.

For the record Staker was taken at pick 37 (3rd Round).

We didn't have an earlier chance to get him as we chose McVeigh with our first pick, then Dempster with Round 3 pick (under father/son). We had also traded pick 2 to Collingwood for Dick Navis.
