I'm still not sure how this is TV winning out. Surely Ten knew they'd be up against live League semis in Sydney and would have preferred a different time, such as Saturday afternoon.

I meant to add that I also feel a great deal of sympathy for those who wanted to go to the game and now can't. Friday night games definitely disadvantage away supporters when the teams are from different states.
Today's a draft of your epitaph

The wins in Melb, Adelaide and Perth more than make up for the ratings hit they would have got with any product in Sydney.

Just saw on the AFL website that the prelims will be played at night.. this together with the two night games last week, the two night semis means that only 3 day finals are played.. i am sure that the wizard cup is the night premiership not the one after 22 rounds of home and away footy where a...

I see this as a black black day in the history of Australian Rules Football. To be honest I just wish Demetriou would fall under a bus at the moment. As I, like the legion of fans who want to make a difference, making the sport colourful with our chanting and flags, am now less important than the people staying at home in their comfy armchairs whose idea of passion is throwing a beercan at the tele. I feel quite hurt and even more cheated.

Juls, you know I have a lot of time for you and respect the time and effort you put into supporting our team, but the AFL as does your employer have a business to run. The AFL have not been dishonest in their timings of the game and ultimately the timing may very well be better for our team. Had you thought about what you wanted to do prior to posting it on an 'OPEN' forum and talked to your employer about making up time, you may have been going to the game.

I don't want to make this seem like I'm shooting you down, but many of us can't get to the game for reasons known only to each of us (personally If I want to go to the GF I can't do the lead up games. Yes I'm banking a lot on the upcoming results, but it's a chance I'm wiling to take). It's disappointing for you/ us (whoever we are) to miss this and hopefully the next game but we have to deal with it. Be angry but don't be bitter. You still have followed the best footy team in the land and have achieved more than most of us hope for by seeing them country wide.

I'll understand if you're angry at what I've said, but instead of focussing that rage at me. Send positive thoughts to our Boys as they go into battle for US as well as themselves. For as we all know, there's no US without THEM and there's no THEM without US

No, not angry at all Bam_Bam. I respect the way you have eloquently put forward your argument.

Just as somebody who had the goal of getting to every game this season, I feel depressed about having failed in this purpose.

Still, with the absolutely shattering news I received today from the vascular surgeon, missing a footy match suddenly seems kind of trivial once again.

Yeah I'm glad I didn't post a reply. Would have hurt a lot more

Afterall, I'm resigned to having paid my melbourne membership and not being able to see ANY games in Melbourne, only 2 games in Perth. (which I also had to pay for )

Thankfully though, I have muppet arms and can't seem to hit the TV when I throw my beer cans
If u don't believe me, I will knock your bloody teeth out and not pay you a cent.

Sure you lied to your employer, but what they did IMO was a major breach of privacy

I lied to my employer, but owned up thankfully. I'm just thankful for things to not have gone further. I have lost quite a bit a bit with people high up too. But they were fair. They said they might have let me go had I been honest with them. Them's the breaks, I guess.

I have already put in to have next Friday off! :-)
