As I said in another thread - Why did everyone go berserk on wanting it to rain? We've never been a good wet weather team and there are better teams at clearing stoppages than we are.

There's always next year. Let's hope it's a good one.
Yes. Thus ends another season for the Swans as expected. Hopefully we can build something for next year, but I'm not quite sure where it's going to come from.

      Our scores:
      2003
      2.2, 4.4, 8.7, 8.8

      2004 (so far)
      2.3, 4.4, 7.4, 8.8

We need to do something to get the ball forward and score goals in pressure games.
What the hell are NMW a bloody computer, seriously great stat as I have posted before we are a bloody good ordinary side who need a couple of stars to drag us when we are down and provide us spark ie Paul Kelly when we needed someone that man was a human bowling ball of momentum.

Haha - the number just seemed familiar to me so I checked and it was!

We really lack that type of player. This is why I mentioned the other day a player like Hird or Crawford is what we need. You watch these guys and when the chips are down they put themselves on the ball, go in and get it, and make things happen. We have no one even remotely like that on a regular basis.

We are one key forward short. We missed Davis badly. We could hide this weakness if Davis was in the team. Once he is out, our revenues to goals are really limited. It does not help that our midfield has a noted weakness for kicking goals too. May be we should be looking at trading for a KP forward in the coming trade period.

Not being able to get the ball into the forward line is a bigger problem. Not sure what our I50s were tonight, but they've been poor for the past few seasons. If you don't get the ball in enough then no matter how good the forward line is, they won't kick enough goals.

Wouldn't have been more than about 30-35 I'd imagine.

When the score reached 100-56 that was the first thought that came into mind, and the dreadful memories of that game and trudging out of Telstra feeling terrible. We haven't been on the end of many thrashings during Roos's tenure, but somehow two of them have come in finals.

The only other thrashing we have had is by Port, funnily enough revenge for last years final.

In Roos' 58 games, we've lost only 3 games by more than 7 goals - two finals (Brisbane and St Kilda) and the Port game this year.

(We've also only lost 3 games by 5-7 goals - Brisbane, Hawthorn and Port. The remaining 17 losses have been by under 5 goals)

So we're usually competitive - we are just a few players short.

From where I was sitting, it seemed like the players just didn't care. Their attack at the ball was half-arsed, their chasing slow and purpose-less, we didn't man up and most important of all we stuffed around with the ball when we had. You can't chip and charge in the wet and you certainly can't do it if you aren't willing to go 100%. Sadly tonight too many players just didn't seem to care.

I know it's easy to say from where I am, but these opportunities don't come around that often... do the players like working their arses off for the whole year only to go out so easily. We were an absolute push over tonight. No fight at all.

Yes its hard to think why this is the case. All the hard work and effort put in since last November, wasted on 3 quarters of heartless, passionless footy.

As I said in an SMS to JF

Really sums it up, you know what it happened, but can't figure out why.
