What Has Been Your Most Memorable Game Since Been A Swan

Mine would have to go back to that preliminary gainst brisbane last year, sure it was a poor last qauter ,but i will never agin most probley see a packed telstra stadium gain with around 77000 red and whites there for the first three qauters the atmosphere was electric and un explainable and we had shown the football community that footy in NSW was still alive and well in the great state, never agin will we have that many swans crammed into a stadium , cause i cant see us making another home preliminary final in the next 10 or so years, but with sydney you never know

The win over Port in last years finals .................we every player was playing for each other with a win at all costs attitude. When Kirk got up from Picketts shirt front, trely inspirational

      Hahahahahahaha...

If we'd had won last night, and gone down to Port admirabley as we probably would have, I don't think you'd be saying we won't get another home prelim for 10 years.

      Some people amaze me.

No thats where your wrong im still a swan and i havent posted one negative or positive comment on here since last nights game, all im saying is that i doubt we will (in the next ten years) be a top two side, i cant see the likes of brissy and Port dropping their standards anytime soon, please dont be so critical

          I will be so critical.

10 years is an eternity in footbal.

10 years ago we had lost 20 odd straight.

10 years ago Brisbane were ****house.

10 years go PORT ADELAIDE didn't even exist in the AFL.

Our list probably has about 6 or 7 players that will still be there in 10 years.

Anything can happen, so think before you say such things.

Okay well i will admit this dont expect to much form our mob, we have played extremly well in the past two odd years with roosy who has been a blessing in disguise, who knows maybe we can but I wouldnt be getting to far ahead of myself, roosy has made us a respectable team which is feared by many, and i personally dont give a dman if we dont get a home preliminary in the next 100 odd years but as long as we win the flag ill be happy, i dont care how we get there

I dont think it will necessarily take al that long to se another 70,000+ crowd at Telstra. If the Seans are playing well and they're up against quality opposition, Sydneysiders will turn out in force (please Sydney FC move the Syd v Brisbane game next year to Telstra).

As for my most memorable game, without doubt the 96 prelim final against Essendon. I am so glad that I was there. Better stil, I was actually sitting front row in the eastern pocket at the southern (Lockett point scoring) end. The crowd reaction to that one point win was like nothing I have ever experienced at a game of footy. It still brings me to tears of joy when I watch it (luckily I also taped it).

yeah definitely have to agree with the 96 prelim and last years effort against port. kirky getting up after the pickett shirtfront was inspirational stuff alright. i initially thought he was gone for the game and to see him go back in for the hard ball was massive. the best game that i have seen the swans play in person was in 97 (i think) against the weagles at the WACA. i have never seen a better game by an individual by schwatta (pretty sure he had 30+ possies and kicked 5 goals) and i was dumbfounded when he didnt get 3 brownlow votes. pretty sure greg stafford got it.

It was '98 - Schwass' third game with us - 32 possessions, 5 goals. Lockett kicked 7 goals too! Schwass received 2 Brownlow votes, Stafford 3 and Gehrig 1 for WC (he kicked 6.3).

Stafford had 44 hit outs that night, while Cresswell had 35 possessions and Kelly 30.

Now that was a midfield! Schwass is the sort of midfielder we could use now!!

ahhhhh those were the days alright. that was definitely a gun midfield, with maxfield running past drilling plugger on the lead.
gee hows the coincidence with fraser kicking 6 against us

I actually remember that game because of Schwass' awesome performance - he was scintillating to watch.

The best game in current times for me was beating Carlton at Optus Oval in 1996 in a riveting game. Spin tingling stuff. Still watch that replay. Kelly and Lewis were brilliant in the lastQ.

After that game I knew we had arrived.

Of days gone by, beating Collingwood in 1970 at the Lake Oval by 1 point, coming from behind, with McKenna taking a mark a split second after the siren was a great, heart stopping game, and very sweet indeed.

I was there behind the goals that day, standing on the gravel waving my flag. I remember I walked in front of the Carlton social Club with it (followed by security ) and joined in a singsong of Pig's Arse out on the middle of the field.

I then proceeded to walk from the ground down Royal Parade into the city with my flag over my shoulder. I waved it madly as the trams went by. The Swans fans inside went mental.

I then broke my flagpole going down the escalators at Hungry Jacks in the Bourke St Mall.

As I said in the "Why do you..." thread - that was the day I became a Swan. I don't remember too much of it except for the buzz...
