    Ryan " Clangers" O Keefe

    6 CLANGERS !

As long as he is playing inside 50 I am fine with having him out there, pinging at the goals, any time he leaves the arc I have very little confidence.

He was dragged down to the St Kilda forward line on Friday night and to say he battled is an understatement.

I thought he played his worse game for the year. So bad, he became a nuisance. But that's still no reason to trade him (before some of you start).

everyone is entitled to a bad game every so often. I think its a bit harsh to get stuck into ROK after what has been a great season of improvement for him.

Was the biggest improver of the year but both his finals were well below his home and away form with the other night it so bad he was indeed a liability. Roos has lots of faith in him though.

I agree with all of you in terms of the improvement he has made as a key forward.

However he can not play outsiide the forward line and does not have the time / decsion making ability of other midfielders.

Personally he is not a favourite player of mine, however I do like it when he kicks a goal and the improvment as a third forward this year has been stellar.

The main point to be made is that his football brain needs development.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if he gets voted most improved at the club this year.

Goodes,O'keefe traded.....................why not trade the whole team for draft picks.

No wonder Roosy says we can not afford to finish down the bottom as some supporters would be asking for the whole team to be axed.

Sure the boys had a bad game but they are both big parts of out future and won't be going anywhere unless they won't to leave Sydney...........mind you if they read some of these posts they may just wont to get away from the fickle supporters

I never asked O Keefe to be traded....

I made the comment that he can not play outside the forward 50 !

Any evidence to prove me wrong would be much appreciated, I think he is a gun forward when on song. Outside the goal arc he is a battler, pure and simple.

His decison making with the footy, unless he is kicking for goal is not up to it.. yet !

He has taken alot of marks outside the forward 50 due to our flooding game and started his career as a backman

Started his career as a backman...... and ????

He played 27 games in his first 3 years at the club as a backman, making up numbers.

His move forward is a revalataion and gave his career the kickstart it needed. I know he takes marks up the gound but what does he do with it after that ? Too often its a sloppy turn over.....

The guy is a gun foward ! As long as that is the job he plays all will be sweet as he is very good at it.

I do belive he will go close to winning most improved, but I think Monty has also taken big steps this year.

Agree he didn't have a good game on Friday but not sure he was any more of a liability than 18 other guys out there (B1, Williams and Mathews excused).

The idea that he can only play in the forward line is pretty daft IMO. The role that he plays requires him to run well up the ground at times (especially to the wings), to make space and to act as a link man into the forward line. He was second for the Swans this year for entries into the forward 50 - indicating that his value has been far from limited to his work inside the forward arc.

Hitman your signature says it all. He was the Clanger King!!!!

Ryan has played well all year, even up the ground he has been strong, yes he's made some classic clangers (I don't wear rose coloured glasses even if he is my favourite), but so have some of our 'star' players. I think singling out his performace on Friday night is a bit harsh as Liz said, he wasn't alone.

                              Liz,

Very intersting, perhaps you have shot me down with that Inside 50's stat.....

Where do you get your stats ? Does it list CLANGERS as well as I would be very interested in seeing them for the year.

Pepples does play up the gound in that the link man role but I dont think it is as effective as whe he is inside 50. I have watched every game this year expect Port ADL and Essendon at TS and am struggling to recall the amount of times that Pepples delivered the ball on to the chest of one of the forwards in the 50....

How many of the deliveres inside forward 50 were effective ?

However I do remember all of his solo efforts in the 50 when he has been kicking at the goals, usaly very impressive.

I am not bagging him just for Friday night either....
