Loyalty is fine for a veteran playing his last season to try and reach a milestone or some such, but for a high-paid player who is redundant in our forward line and has 3-4 years left...you need to look at the needs of the club over the individual.

Loyalty is a nice thing, but this business is ruthless and loyalty shouldn't equal carrying players. (Not that I am saying Magic is being carried mind you, just as a general example)

If trading Magic for whatever reason delivers us a player or players that can make more of an impact in the team's structure, then so be it.

The AFL is now a serious business - no room for loyalty there!

i am a huge magic fan, however, all this trade talk seems to overlook one critical aspect. NO TRADE VALUE! who would take a player who is in the latter stages of his career, with a history of serious injuries, who will always be on a modified training program...etc.

having said that, i don't think there are many players who would be immune if some ultra trade came up, i just don't think magic would seem that much of a coup for anyone....

How many of our players does this tag attach too. To different extents we are collectively keen to offer Fixter, Fosdike, James, Powell et al up as trade bait. My question is, is there a market for them or for or draft picks? Jude probably would be sought after and ROK, but then who... Goodes, Schneider, B2...

The club has been very public in saying that it is going to trade aggressively. They are basically inviting other clubs to have a good look at our list, pick out someone they like the look of, and make an offer. We are all keen to say who we think should go, and I am sure Roos and the football dept have their own ideas too. But the big question is, who will be sought after. I think that Jude, and as much as it pains me to say it, ROK, should be feeling a little uneasy at the moment...

I would image it is more logical to trade established players who are peaking but have limited scope for improvement rather than players who are on the up. Obviously, the elders who are on the slide would not attract much interest.

Roos has always been saying along that our group of players is not talent enough to win the flag. I dont think it will improve our talent pool by trading one of very few players with talent on our list. O'Keefe is one of such.

I agree. So who will get traded? We keep saying that we have to lose quality to get quality. ROK is a quality fwd. We have plenty of talent in the fwd line. Hall is going nowhere. Mick O would not be taken I would not imagine. Davis would give it away if he were traded. Schneider may be bait but I think he will be given another year...
