Wallace bags Swans on white line

Wallace was asked about Ottens going to Sydney and Wallace launched into us - he said look at the B&F winners for Sydney over the last 10 years they have all come from other clubs!

He went on to say Brisbane has used the extra cash to develop local players whilst Sydney has used it to entice players from other clubs

Maybe sour grapes from Wallace but I couldnt see Richmond cooperating with us for any trades.

    Cheers

It is sort of true really!.

Other than P.Kelly, Magic, Goodes and a few others - nearly all of our big superstars over the past 22 years have been recruited from other clubs.

However, I don't see Plough complaining about Nathan Brown being at Richmond.

Wouldn't take it too seriously though, all part of the fun of the trade period.

Interesting that Gweggy Miller had a few cheap shots at us on SEN yesterday.

Basically that we were amatuers in the recruiting department, used the Ray Hall recruiting attempt from last year as example. FWIW I think Ray's management was using us a crutch to get a better deal out of the Tiges.

Reading between the lines with both Wallace and Miller having a crack at us, sounds to me like the Tiges are @@@@ting themselves that Ottens is gone.

If other clubs would stop poaching the Swans' talent, then more Swans B/F winners would have been Swans draftees! Most players of that kind that the Swans have got from other clubs the Swans have had to give up a player of similar quality in this way.

Gaspar, Licuria, A. Rocca, S. Grant are just four examples. I'm sure the RWO crowd could extend the list to 10 or even 20 with little trouble.

Wallace should pull his head in instead of speaking of topics about which he knows little, especially if he only gives one side of the story.

Yes - he should have mentioned how hard it has been historically to keep 17 year old boys in Sydney away from their families and no AFL culture to be seen.

It is true though that we have recruited some of our biggest stars.

The difference with our recent player losses compared with recruits is that our recruits have often been superstars - Lockett, Roos, Hall, Schwass et all, which makes it very noticable from the outside.

Wasn't it him than was caught poaching players and staff from the dogs only last week!!?!?!? The pot and kettle syndrome!!!

Maybe he(they) is just jealous that we have been able to trade, better than his clubs.

If some one started poaching one of our guns, I'm sure Colless would come out firing, and so would Roos!!! Actually Roos would be a bit more subtle, about his slurring of others.

He would also be annoyed that his previous club is about to get a $20mill new facility.

And when you have just taken over a crap club you need

Although not B&F winners, 2 of our 3 AA players this year are 'locals' or at least have been developed by Sydney. Add to the list the likes of Bevan and McVeigh, two genuine Sydney potential stars, and LRT. As someone said, there is next to no footy culture in Sydney. It's a bit like having a go at Melbourne Storm for not having any local juniors or having a go at Canada for filling their World Cup cricket squad with expats.

Anyway, a big raspberry to Wallce. He was more than happy to be poached by Sydney for big bucks and got the poos when a locally developed coach got the nod. I'd say he is **** scared that Ottens is coming to us...

He's talking rubbish in what amounts to a declaration of war!!! I hated the Bulldogs while he coached them and now its time to hate Richmond! And we start by grabbing Ottens from them cash desperate claws.

And of course, Wallace is mighty pissed off with Sydney for ditching him and taking on Roos as coach.

I feel we have now got even with Collingwood for taking Licuria and Rocca, by getting Williams, Schuable and Davis.

And the S.Grant for W.Schwass has turned out about even too.

But we still owe Richmond one for taking Gaspar, and Ottens would be a perfect match.

Well we did give them Stafford but then they gave us Daffy. No, we still owe them.

I saw last night's programme and Wallace said he knew nothing about it but was very heated in his comments about Sydney's tactics of taking players from other Clubs.

In todays Daily Telegraph, there is an article on it and Wallace states that Saddington and an early draft pick would not be enough for Ottens.

In the SMH, Miller states that he would expect Ottens to take a $120K pay cut and stay with the Tigers to repay the loyalty that they have shown in him.

They said that they would pick him up in the pre-season draft he he didn't want to play with them. Now how dumb is that?
