Zantuck Well Worth a Look

I have just been doing some homework on Ty Zantuck to see if
he might be of some use to us I was surprised to find that he is
only 22 you would think his best years are still to come he was a
rising star nomination in 2002 had an excellent 2003 he is a good
build has a bit of fire can play forward or back he will miss the
first round in 2005 due to suspension certainly he would be
worth a late round draft pick or maybe even a straight swap for
Mark Powell.

Is he open for trade??
I havent watched many Tigers games over the last 2 years to be honest, but is it fair to say he is fairly soft and sits outside a ruck or scrimmage to gain a possession?? Or have i got him confused with another Tiger?

No room for him in our forward line as it is and in defence we have Barry, C. Bolton and Saddington who are better than him in the role he would play. Plus do we really want to get a defender from the team that won the wooden spoon????

powell would be a good swap... i doubt richmond would do that think they rate zantuck higher than the swans rate powell

We can do better

First put him in a good team and
you may be surprised just how well he fits in he is physically
stronger than Bolten and would do no worse than Saddington
remember Andrew Schauble was not a star when he first arrived
all he needed was a chance lets not be too hasty to judge as I

Not worth looking at. He was reasonably ordinary in a very ordinary team.

I thought Zantuck looked alright as a medium sized defender with decent strength. Controlling his temper is a factor though. And I'm not sure if we need another player of his size - we really need a big KP defender if anything.

Can he be a Great -> All Australian CHB/FB for the next 4-6 years? If not, we don't need him.

Undersized defender forced to play on big forwards due to injuries.We already have Craig Bolton.We need a genuine key defender although I am still holding out hope for LRT to be that man long term.

We do not need just a key defender, If we want to be a championship team, we need a great, consistant one.

A great consistent defender and a great, brilliant consistent midfielder. There are a lot of recruiting managers scrambling through that same haystack right now.

As undisciplined and mediocre Zantuck might be has he really had the chances. Early in his career he looked like he the "Ottens" (potential) but seems to have inherited the ratty genes of his old man, who could play when he wanted.

Has the build, has speed, is fairly strong overhead for his size, and has a go, so could be moulded into something worthwhile.

Maybe we should cut him some slack given his whole career has been under the tutorlage of Danny Frawley. If he could be taught to play footy he may be a useful contributor.

Of course, it is not easy. Thats why it the Swans have not won a championship since 1933.

We can not accept mediocre players or just "top 22" type players to get us to the next stage. We essentially need at least two more, real, all-australian types. Either recruited by draft (preferrable) or trade. And they need to be good for another 4 years or more. Not only that, we have to be careful not to ruin our future in doing so. It is hard, hard, hard. And I am glad its not me doing it.
