You're double counting there - if this is what is proposed, Fosdike and Doyle = pick 8. So it would be Fosdike, Doyle and pick 15 for Ottens.

I desperately hope that Geelong and Richmond can do a deal asap that will send Ottens down the highway. It's all getting ridiculous.

If we could prise Adelaide's 8th pick from them (though preferably not by trading Doyle - madness, surely) fantastic but why not use it to draft Cameron Wood or Matthew Bate and invest in the future of the club?

I seriously doubt Adelaide would give up pick 8 for fosdike and doyle.

We all know doyle struggles and is far too injury prone.

Fosdike is ok, but also becoming injury prone.

Anyone who think this is a chance must think Adelaide just want to give pick 8 away.

The only way the swans would give away doyle is if we got jolly.

And i know there is some talk we are offering 31 for jolly, I think that would be a good deal for us.

If we can get pick 8 - i don't know how, but if we can.

I reckon we offer pick 8 and saddington for ottens, with us pick up a bit of the saddington's wage.

our first roung draft pick, i think its like 16 or something for travis johnstone

and pick 31 for jolly

so we would lose

saddington
doyle(?)
fosdike(?)
and pick 16

for ottens, johnstone, and jolly

I think more likely would be fosdike and crouch for pick 8 and maybe adelaides second round pick. We may also need to offer melbourne something more for johnstone. Maybe 16 and powell or ablett.

Maybe all the talk and touted trades posted here is getting ridiculous, but don't confuse that with actual events that are yet to take place.

Roos has come out (apparently) and said that a lot of what has been said is rubbish, and as far as I am concerned, the Swans have always traded very sesnibly and frugally.

Ottens doesnt make us a championship contender at all. Not one bit. And giving up Doyle is a bit crazy at this point. He deserves another year in a more full-time role.


BUT lets see if this is true or not. If we come out of this week just with Ottens I will be disappointed as it doesn't really make us much (if at all) better.

Evidently Melbourne has rejected #31 for Jolly. And Liz is spot on Bate will be a gun, but Wood is a slight risk with a really high pick. Would prefer to use the pick on gun talent.

Then I will add that the ones we actually traded for were generally part of a bigger deal.
The cost to us was using up a place in the team IMO

As far as players we've missed out on, well every club will have a list of stars they could have traded.

If a player is drafted during the second round and becomes a star, then theoretically, every single team could have had him with their first round pick and 'missed out'

I'll tell you what REALLY missing out on a player is.
