    "Aggressive Trading?" Only one deal

Seems after all the hype about knowing what we need and going for it we only got Jolly for our first round pick.

It is disappointing but perhaps our younger players may be ready to fill the void.

In order to trade it takes two parties.

The club was agressive, but in the end nothing was on the market (besides a ruckman) that was worthwhile trading for or with.

Despite all the gossip and rumours very few players out of 600 odd players on lists actually get traded in any one year.

No use trading for someone like Obree just for tha sake of it!

It's better than ridiculous trading where players are thrown away for the sake of it.

At the end of the day it's all about supply and demand. We at least got our ruckman. In light of the news today regarding a cats-demons-blues deal involving Jolly then the Swans did the right thing by taking him with the higher pick.

I think we need to put Willoughby and Schmidt on a bulking up programme over summer and have them making appearances in the 1's next year.

I think the last thing Schmidt needs is a 'bulking up' program.

            Very disappointing.

Blind freddy can see we need a decent midfielder, but not one was even linked to us during the trade period.

Jolly is handy, but we arent going to be premiership contenders next year.

And how many decent midfielders were traded this week where going home was not a key reason?

              To my knowledge....zero.

You can't make trades magically appear from nowhere if there is nothing to trade!!!

              I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

$900,000 free cap space should have some influence you'd think.

Exactly, people spend way too much time listening to the media where these faitytale trading stories are just magically pulled from thin air.

I thought about that. Maybe the top half only.

I'm sure some Swans supporters thought that at the end of 95 and even the start of the 96 season. While we didn't get the quality midfielder we hoped for via the trade, the coaching staff have five months to develop the players we have and turn our midfield into one of the best in the comp. I believe that our midfield does have the potential. The question is whether that potential is realised by a couple of players stepping up to the level we need.

Problem is the only players other clubs considered worth trading for were not put on the market. Fosdike, Saddington et al won't provide too much in return.

Just goes to show how little influence this has on getting players up to Sydney.

I find it hard to believe that the only players discussed behind closed doors in 5 days of negotiations were the handfull that got mentioned in the media, don't you?

Now there's an idea ... it would be reality TV for blokes

I think we did well to secure a ruckman in trade. Our trading position was not strong - to the best of my knowledge, none of our star players wanted to leave the club this year and our draft picks are relatively low.

Roos may have intended to trade aggressively, but it takes two to tango. Perhaps Roosie couldn't find a dance partner.
