Lot of very brief comments in the negatory here. Not helping much. So what do the administration know that you lot don't? Hmmm? We got a bloke from Geelong whose name started with Cress and ended in Well .. and he sort of did all right

I for one am very happy with getting Spriggs I posted several threads about him I think our midfield needs a players to step up as Willaims and Maxfield decline, before his injury he was one of the AFLs most up coming wingmen/onballer and I believe if given a chance and confidence could really add something to the lineup, has great speed and endurance, is capable of winning his own ball as well as breaking the lines and a strong tackle(suits our style) only downside is his questionable disposal(should fit in well with Jude Bolton). considering what is on offer I guess the Swans thought he offered the most

I'm ignoring what some people are posting here about Sprigg, which is not related to football. Who cares what he does in his spare time. Please give me a break. I had enough watching and listening what media had to say about Sean Crawford, for me one of the best players among the Hawks.
Take your observations of Sprigg not related to football to Wild Miscellany where they belong.
If he's going to improve our midfield, which we all know needs improving, then, in my books, he's more than welcome!

I'm not displeased at all. He's young. Had good form pre-injury, and then found it difficult to get back into a side with a settled midfield. Nothing more than a low draft pick was required to get him. He's already good value to the club (in monetary terms). If nothing else, it means that Jude and Fosdike might have to work harder to keep their spots.

Fan favourite in no time at all.

He won't be playing for the league minimium as he nominated his terms before the draft.

Of course. The club would have expected that a similar player would have to be getting anywhere from 250-350K. I wouldn't have expected him to be playing for League minimum (how much is that?). No trade involvement makes it a good deal.

Yeah, some of his kicking can be a little errant, and he gets in trouble with the ball at times-but so does everybody else on our list. He should be ready to go from Rd 1 if he's fit. Personally, I reckon he could be good value. I'm really looking forward to seeing Jolly in action also.

So the swans tradition of having a bunch of clanger lovers amoungst their brownlow medalists continues-that sort of thing brings the class of the whole team down a good couple of pionts.

But will he ? It sounds as if he may not in fact really improve it, just give Roos moore options, but second rate options at that- this guy has poor disposal- how much imrovment can he be if he gets the ball runs like hell then turns the ball over?

The best case scenario I reckon would be that a couple of our class players come on in the midfield, and spriggs never get a game with us at all !
I would love it if willoughby and schmit and schnieder and davis all turned out to be guns in the midfield so that all the stop gap recruits could just be dropped and a bit of real pressure be put on Jude Bolton for his spot in the team. Then you might see some improvment.
Spriggs is never going to push for a spot over our existing midfielders, therefore he is not increasing the competition in there; therefore he is not going to be an improvment- just another second rate string in a very second rate bow/midfield.
Unless we can get serious class in the midfield, (which spriggs is not), then our millstone problem of mediocrity wont just go away.
Think about it. Do the lions or the Power have 2 bit reject players running around for them cos there is gaping holes in their midfield ? No, the only way to win a flag these days is to have class in every position on the field.

I saw Spriggs in a number of games last year and the year before, and thought he was terrible - poor disposal and bad decision making. Hopefully, like some other players before, he turns his career around with us and becomes a very good player.
