the only way you will get new exciting talent in the door is to finish low down. Problem is finishing high up you end up treading water unless you can trade to advantage. Next year looks like a year of trying to stay in the finals unless someone plays out of the box and injuries are few, something goes wrong with the other top teams etc.

That is so so far from true its not funny. Your chances may be higher but every single team in the competition had access to (among others):

      Simon Black
      Adam Goodes
      Nick Stevens
      Mark Coughlan
      Adam McPhee
      Daniel Bradshaw
      Graham Johncock
      Sam Mitchell
      Matt Maguire
      Paul Medhurst
      Daniel Kerr
      Aaron Davey
      Jared Rivers
      Richard Hadley
      Paul Bevan
      Brent Moloney
      Dean Brogan
      Dominic Cassisi
      Kane Cornes
      Cameron Bruce
      Brad Green
      Brad Miller
      Steve Johnson
      Cameron Ling
      Paul Chapman
      Dean Rioli
      Guy Richards
      Brad Fisher

while most also had access to the likes of:

      James Kelly
      Nick Dal Santo
      Byron Schammer
      Daniel Harris
      Brent Reilly
      Scott Thompson
      Daniel Bell
      Robert Murphy

all of whom either are - or are well on their way to becoming - very good players of the ilk who will challenge for AA selection in future years (if not already).

        Why 2 small midfieldres????

Why another 2 small midfielders??? I really dont get it we are seriously lacking size in the midfield Im sure opposition sides look at Bolton Mathews Fosdike Kirk Mcveigh Buccanan Schneider Crouch and wonder when the senior side is going to run out!! no wonder we play keepies off we have no one who can take a contested mark!! is there anyone over 3 ft 1 in our Midfield excluding our rucks, Roos has already said he could see Kennelly playing there this yrear and its obvious why he's too tall!!

Surely Thelewis was a better option that the Hack James and if you were going to keep James why not keep playing him last season??

Its hard to see were the improvent is going to come from this year, Sundquivst might be ok but wasnt setting the world on fire before he was injured and and wouldnt rate as a replacement for anyone who played in the midfield last year.

I just cant believe we drafted 2 more midget midfielders and a hack like James.

Final round 2005 and position on the ladder will tell the story and I'll be glad to eat humbug pie if we finish in the 8.

Phew glad thats out ok everyone slam me know!!

        ;0)

          Wait and see.

          i agree
          i have faith

That's the benefit of being a pessimist. If he's proved right, he won't be disappointed. If he's wrong, he can say he's pleasantly surprised, and everyone else will be so over the moon they won't care.
