Quick summary of the way the $$ for the AFLTN are distributed: most hits = most $$ to that club, then a relative breakdown from there. Thus, less hits for us = less $$ for us.

Things WILL be picking up in the new year, as Jules has said, but right now it's NOT rewarding mediocrity, it's getting some extra hits to generate some extra $$ - the club KNOWS their site isn't up to scratch, and are working on that, so it's not like they're suddenly going to go "oh wow hits have gone up we must suddenly be not so bad" - they're not stupid! Get over it people, and load the site up once a day - you complain things are too expensive as is, so here's something you can do for free, and takes about 20 seconds of your time - quicker than a pee break.

No problem with expression, I'm just sick of people going "it's crap therefore I'm not going there" without actually having taken any notice of the fact that the club is fully aware the site is below the standard we expect, and the fact that money is required to improve these things, and going to the site is a way to generate cash in a quick, easy method.

Just how much money is generated for the club from the web site? Will my having it as a homepage make more than $0.33 a year?

Surely you can see the Catch-22, though? Going there when the quality is poor will only remove the incentive to improve the site. If an investment is required (I don't know that it would cost heaps), then they should make that investment BEFORE reaping the profits.

I DO use the site, on a semi-regular basis, but I'm not going to use it several times a day when there is nothing there I want to see.

The thing is, these people are sitting in Tasmania and Melbourne and have not been reassured face-to-face by club officials about how things are going to be improved. People like Bron Gem and myself have been lucky to do this. And we are not talking out of our rear ends after having seen the utmost professionalism in which Myles has conducted himself. And can only tell you guys to not panic.

We are all there to SUPPORT the club, are we not? Footyhead et al ARE very much allowed to ask questions as to not only the way the website is filled, and as well as the way the club treats people who contact it. But when myopic people like Charlie sit there like billious old toads going"Ribbet ribbet, I refuse to be positive and support the club because what they do now is ****," what can you do?

Our club is changing quite significantly. That is all I ask. Tony Morwood at the Melbourne situation righting itself is proof for my point.

                Have some faith peoples.

How do we know that they are going to improve the site?

Have they said what they plan to do and when?

What is the marginal revenue they will gain from moving up the 'hits ladder' and will this be enough to support an improvement in the site?

FWIW, I have a specific, tailored news website I use as my homepage, which I read, so changing my homepage is actually a bit of a nuisance for me unless I see a real benefit will come from it.

                    WTF?

I've said WHAT the problem with the site is, and how it can be fixed. How in hell is that 'myopic'? I've been more optimistic than most about the on-field fortunes of the club, and acknowledged the great advancements made off the field as they have happened. How is that 'refusing to be positive'? Sorry, JF, but this time you ARE talking out of your rear end.

At the end of the day, the club is not a charity. I buy my membership partly out of loyalty, but more specifically because it gets me into matches. The same will go for the website.

I'm so glad for you, Julian, that you have been able to replace your own tunnel visioned hatred of Colless with rose-coloured glasses. Me? I'll stick with the unfiltered view, and accept it when I see both the good and the bad (BTW, aren't metaphors fun?).

I would say that if an accurate poll was conducted, the contributors to this site vist swans.com.au a lot more than any other group of suckers.
It's up to them to make it worth our while to become even more involved.

which is what they are trying to do! ffs do people NOT read?! What we are asking is to damnwell get behind the club - they have already admitted the site is not up to scratch and that is to change within WEEKS they hope - we are not at liberty to say much more than that, but they ARE TRYING, and it should be up to us to help out somewhere. It costs nothing to get behind them in this manner (which is actually a lot more helpful than most might think SC) so stop whinging and start doing.

                          The website is a Catch-22.

The website allows the club to control what is written on it. But given that fact, who wants to go to it when the information there-in is boring, outdated and bland.

Everything depends on whether or not they are prepared to relinquish control - and to what extent.

I complained to them this year about the latness on the posting of the reserves results.
They said they would do what they could.
                              What they could ?
All they need is somone at the game to be given the codes to the site, and provided with a wirless access service and a laptop computer!
It is just not good enough in the computer age, for the club to be to the 3rd - 1000th source for fans seeking the results of performances for information on your footballing team.
A lot here would know more about the reserves than the fat pigs that turn up every monday to their mundane jobs on the outskirts of Swansland.
It's time they pulled up their socks or move out the old mother hens that they have had since the year dot.
The Swans could employ some foxy young european temps who at least could be taught to smile whenever a valued customer or potential memeber asks for something either in persone or via e-mail.
When they start catering to us then we will put more in. We are already very, very loyal supporters considering that they are way behind quite a lot of other clubs in this regard.
                              Cheer , cheer .

Gem, we'll just have to agree to disagree.

I'm simply not going to do something so that the club can get money for nothing, when they are capable of earning it. I'm quite confident that they'll improve the site, but just like Tony Morwood working to increase the Melbourne games, my recognition of that will wait until after it happens.

Give me something worth going to the site for more often, and I'll do it. Asking for a free lunch in the name of profit just doesn't impress me enough.
