    midfield super star

The Swans have had a few superstars in the midfield over the years, I think that we need one to emerge if we are to win the flag. By this I mean somone who could , maybe win a couple of brownlows and really dominate from our engine room for years
So who do you think it will be ?
    (please no body say Bolton)

Once he develops some size and experience, I think McVeigh could be near the top of the list of potentials.

I'd probably put Kennelly at the top, once he finally gets shifted midfield.

Schneider could be anything - who knows how far he will progress.

Footyhead you read my mind. The engine room is where a genuine star must emerge. We have a few likelies. Can.t wait to see if someone evolves, quick smart.

NMW brings up Kennelly, but I question whether he is a true in and under and stoppage star midfielder.

I don't think Kennelly is that type, but that doesn't mean he can't star in the midfield, generate a lot of run forward and be a potential Brownlow winner.

Jarred Moore seems to be a likely prospect from all reports. Hows Paul Bevan lookin?

I was thinking of Malceski as he looks like he has great skills, but we'll see how he goes at senior level first.

I agree with Bloods, but I'd also like to see O'Keefe in the mix too.

Before I'm discredited for my liking of him, I first became aware of him for his tenacity of following the footy and getting in and under - remember he was not always a forward.

I know he plays an integral part of our forward line, but he also has the stamina to play in an attacking midfield role. If you go back and watch the tapes you'll notice his ability to get in and under to attack the ball. He has also improved over the past couple of years, more so than others on here thought possible. He finished 4th in the B&F 2004.

While saying this, it does leave a hole in our forward line, as he's not a tall forward, but fills that mid to tall range.

I also agree with the thoughts of Malceski. At NSO last year I was very impressed with the ground he covered and the effort made. It was disappointing he was injured. If He's up to it, I'd suggest he'll get a look in before Dempster who was showing good form towards the end of last season

The Swans game plan relies on a lot of very hard running, up the ground, down the ground and back up again. That requires the midfield to have good stamina across the board and also to have lots of options to rotate through.

Based on this, and a few comments Roos has made to the press, I suspect his dream team would comprise of maybe 4 players who play exclusively in attack or defence - say Bazza and Magic, Schaubs and Leapin', plus another 18 guys (including the bench) who are capable of taking their turn on the ball but who can also fill a role elsewhere on the ground. Obviously some would spend more time on the ball than others, but players like Davis,O'Keefe, Monty, Schneider, Kennelly, B2 will need to be able to take their turn if they are to be assured of their place in the team.
