For starters,i have posted to this thread twice previously and i you had bothered to read my first post,i did state that if you were from Western Sydney, then i guess Telstra Stadium would be easier to get to!

For your info,i live in Bondi Junction and i am not one of these types who believe Sydney ends at Anzac Pde.Before i lived in Bondi,i lived in Hillsdale(south eastern suburbs of Sydney)so the SCG has always been fairly close to me in the six years i haved lived in this city! Before that,i used to travel from the CENTRAL COAST TO GET TO GAMES!!!!.So don't start lecturing me on where people live and how they travel ok pal!.

If you are getting out of Homebush by public transport, there is only two train lines and a bus service so far away from the actually stadium. It takes forever to get in and out of the place because there isnt much choice. On the other hand, getting to and from the SCG from the city via public transport, there are a lot of bus services.

But hey, what would i know?I am not as intelligent as you and i am so selfish!
OK I retract what I said about you. However I think you're in the minority compared to your neighbours. However I still think overall Homebush's transportation is much better than SCG's considering there are buses from all over Sydney, rather than changing @ Central & getting caught in the Q at the top of the hill on the way to SCG.

I have gone by car to the ground (leaving sucked but no different to the SCG car park), by car to Strathfield then train (no slower than queueing for a bus @ SCG) and by Olympic Bus Network from Baulkham Hills (no delay in either direction). I stand by what I said but won't direct it at you. I do get very sick of the world ending @ Anzac Pde (which you also mentioned so you know what I mean). I get sick of people whinging about driving more than 15mins yet its ok for us to drive an hour. Not just here, it happens in junior footy too (club A travels to club B, but then later on club B says its too far to travel to club A so want to meet on a neutral ground for that game!).

if its true, it would annoy more people in melbourne than people it would make happy in sydney.

I dont believe it at the moment, u sure its true?
Its not true. Howevr its not false. Its being looked at by the AFL. As is Cairns and possible overseas games (I'm guessing NZ but you never know - maybe a split Rd1 with London & US match? The split to provide for jetlag & returning). I'm quoting commentators from the opening Wizard Cup round. Its all because the MCG is AWOL until approx Rd6 because of the Commonwealth Games next year. That means the normal 2-3 games per week played there have to be moved - thats 12-18 games to be relocated.

My main gripe with public transport to Telstra is that the last train home leaves at about 11.30pm. Makes it a bit hard to catch up with friends over a drink or two post game.

And the Paddo precinct offers far more options for pre or post-game nourishment.

That said, I accept that those who don't live in the CBD or ES may find it hard to get to the SCG.

Yes the social side of TS sucks. But the pizzas are nice in both Parra and Burwood.

Mate,i don't know where you exactly live but i do know one thing, you will travel anywhere to see the mighty Swans play

I am an Eastern Suburbs snob who thinks Leichardt is part of the outer west.Having said that I walk to the SCG which takes about 30 minutes while if I time the trains right I can get to Homebush in not much more than half an hour.
Getting back is the pain.So I don't mind if more games are played out there as long as the Swans don't lose money doing it.

                          Location: Glendenning

                          Its near Rooty Hill.

Looking forward to the M7 - M7/M5 tollway to the G or M4 tollway to the T (Telstra lol).

In fact tollway to BOTH G's (once the Albury bypass gets built).

Very good points were raised by both fotyhead and peterh.

                            My two cents.

Relocate Footscray Bulldogs to Blacktown or Penrith. Play a handful of games at TS, Olympic park/Howell and Whitten oval. Get AFL and State Labor Govt. to subsidise/invest heavily for LONG term.

                            Too simple....

PS. For those who are critical of a 2nd team in Sydney, just watch a derby match between yuppies and dockers in Perth. Football NEEDS rivalry.

Sadly that isn't too simple and as would be the case with trying to relocate any Melbourne based, we'll have another Swans c1981 on our hands. Its one thing to suggest it (and there is nothing wrong with that) but its another to make it happen.

As much as some would like it to happen, getting a current team to move to Western Sydney won't happen within the next five years and if after that time any club decides to move they will look at other places (Gold Coast, Western Sydney, Canberra and Tassie) and settle on the place most like to a) need the least amount of finanical help from the AFL and thus b) place that will give them the best chance to opporate in profit sooner. As far as I can see, Western Sydney is the worst option of the four in those regards.

Just remember what the AFL wants isn't automatically what the club moving wants and basically I would think if ANY current Melbourne based team put their hands up and said yes we'll move, they would end up moving to the Gold Coast and shacking up with the Southport Sharks, who have money to burn and not Western Sydney who basically bring nothing major to the table except the fact Western Sydney is such a large untapped market.

I'll hold to my long held belief that a team playing out of Western Sydney won't happen for 20 years basically because the AFL won't want to hurt the Swans growth as a team in Western Sydney has the chance of doing. To me any possible benefits of a 2nd Sydney team are long term once they get setup, not short term.
