Great picture of Benny W picking his nose there JS! (He is in the purple Kings cap). I am next to him eating my Liteneasy bread rolls.

From left to right we have Jude_Adams-Babe, an excited-looking Warfe's Babe, Big Daz, Narelle (non RWO), Norris "Come On" Lurker/Bomber Spirit/Teal, Merlene then Cathy in front of him, and Irena and friend in front of her. To Norris's right is the Undertaker, Tim from Petersham and Bill. Then there is me Benny-w and Boofhead.

We had a good little group up the back there. Up there you get an awesome view of the match too.

We lugged those heavy flag poles for ONE BLOODY GOAL. We only got there at half time, so missed our 3 goals in the 2nd quarter!

You would think that both Fosdike and Powell are on thin ice given Roos comments on the game yesterday.

No players specifically mentioned but singled out underperforming 3/4/5 year players for a serve.

Pathetic crowd for a FREE entry game, especially considering we attracted over 10,000 paying customers to a pre-season at North Sydney oval. Makes you wonder where all these mystery West Sydney converts are ? especially as we keep hearing how easy it is for the "mystery converts" to get to Homebush.

It really rams home where people who actually turn up want to watch games !

IMHO that's a pretty harsh assessment. Remember that the NSO game was on the calendar for months before the game, so people could plan to attend it before other options came up. Yesterday's game was only scheduled a week ago, and so people would already have plans in place to be doing other things (I myself are one of those - I was playing cricket yesterday). Add to the short notice, the game was not promoted at all.

        I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

Agreed NSO was better promoted and allowed people to plan ahead but they also had to pay $10 to get in and still attracted double the amount at Homebush.

Surely if there was all this latent support in Western Sydney people would turn up to a FREE match and take there kids along also ?

How many times do we keep making excuses for the place on "potential" grounds before we realise that it is a white elephant. I dont think you can get a better example of the potential for people to go to games than a FRE entry game and we attracted a massive 5,000 odd !

Given the zero promotion and being a meaningless practice match (in terms of who won/who lost), 5,000 is a decent crowd.
That being said I still think they are better off not playing pre season games at Telstra

Telstra Stadium is a 'white elephant' - Sydney Olympic Park, however, is not.
Telstra Stadium, unfortunately, is used only sparingly throughout the season - i.e maybe twice for the union, a handful of AFL games and maybe 5 max League games. The reason being it is not viable to hire out because organisations can't fill it and get the money back from ticket sales to pay for the ridiculously high price to hire the ground.

Many school organisations such as (this is only what I know) IGSSA, CIS and NSW All Schools have hired out Stadium Australia and now Telstra in the past for athletics, touch football etc etc - but canned those plans due to costing. Its a shame because many kids would love to have the chance to play and run on the field that so many of their heros have.

But then again, the people that worked on Stadium Australia, whom I know quite well, realised that after the Olympics the stadium was not going to be used much after those 2 weeks.

Back to the game yesterday - Eirn and Gem will back me up in saying this - but I was greatly dismayed that Schneids warmed up and then ran onto the ground - all suited up - and then 'bamf' vanishes into thin air...very upset that he strained a quad (which I found out this morning)
And then I was too shy to go and ask for a photo... double
And the man who started it, the Schneiderman, can kick his third for the quarter. And the swans are in the Grand Final!

Rubbish. It was a hot and very humid February day, definately not football weather. I thought 5200 was excellent for a trial game. Some people here seem to have trouble discerning the difference and consequnet level of interest between summer trial games and the real home and away season. I wasnt much interested in going on Saturday but I'll be at the SCG in all my red and white on 27 March.

Was anyone pissed off that most of the action was on the other side of the oval!! about 90% of the throw ins and ball ups were on the empty side of the stadium.

Furthermore, how bad was it to walk around for 5-7 mins to the other side to the only entrance to the stadium after leaving the train station.

LOL - it always is, regardless of where you sit. Indeed, even if you'd had a clone sitting on the other side of the ground, 90% of the action would still have been on the other side of the ground!

I was at a Swans Carlton pre-season match at the SCG 4-5 years ago where entry was free. Crowd was 3,000.

The Essendon game at NSO was also in Feb, also a summer trial and yet despite having to pay to get in attracted twice as many people !

                          So your point is ?

Maybe read the original post before deciding who can and who cannot discern between trials and season proper games !

Can anyoned who was there give an in depth assesment of LRT, and why he was in the best players list. From what i saw lastweek, his decision making is still quetionable and reminds me a bit of saddo's early days down back. Reckon he stil needs to bulk up considerably before he can hold down CHB, howver reading the play is one of his better attributes, imho. thanks

Well LRT was on the best players list because everyone else had poor games...so thats must be saying something about the quality of the match.

LRT didnt have that bad a game - tackled hard, ran hard and tried to get some sort of flow to the swan's game. Did a few neat things - such as some good handballs, kicks and marks - tried hard all game.
