Swans Raffle : How Many Tickets Did You Buy ?

Phone rang Saturday morning - chap selling Swans raffle tickets.

He told me, almost at once , that "most" people had bought "three or four" books , at $50 a book.
So I asked him "Called all the Eastern Suburbs supporters first , did ya ?!"
(Which just goes to show - living in the WESTERN Suburbs and having a brilliant, quick, pithy mind are not mutually exclusive _)

Now,seriously,I have known what it's like in the past to be skint.
I DID buy one book , but , RWO-ers , how many of you bought "THREE or FOUR" books of tickets?

I'd suggest he would have to call at least five people and get three buying "three or four" books before he could use the word "most".
I feel these pressurised marketing tactics are rather poor form.
Still , guess it will toughen me up for when I get accosted by the wave of white-toothed , fixed-smile wave of marketers at the SCG in a couple of weeks.

I said thanks but no thanks. I'd rather donate to people who are blind, or starving etc. He rang back 1/2 an hour later... "Ooops, sorry mate, but since I've mistakenly called...". An hour later they rang and got Mrs L who bought $25 worth (she said). It got here within 48 hours. Obviously the membership dept are not involved.

      LOL!Nice on ROK.
Interesting , he never told me there was a $25 book !

Actually, the club has done itself a disservice - whether I'm skint or flush , I'm simply refusing next time.

I was woken up at some ungodly hour on sat morning too (any time before noon is an ungodly hour on the weekend). Obviously that didn't get me in a good mood in the first place.

I pay ~$700 worth of membership fees a year, and usually get one or two bits of merchandise each season as well, not to mention the time, effort and money it costs me to attend games.

It's one thing for the rookies to sell raffle tickets at the after-match function, but I'm not going to be terribly receptive towards some random person who calls me up at (did I mention an ungodly hour?) 8:30am on a saturday.

And don't even start me on the white-shirted mob selling raffle ticket at home games...

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Nah their easy - DON'T MAKE EYE CONTACT.

If that fails just walk past them as quick as you can and flip the bird if the need arises
            Once was, now elsewhere

I have a long involvement with junior footy and I would love to know where the funds from these raffles go. I have never heard of any part of it actually reaching the grassroots level.

Funny that you guys got calls only this past weekend - I got mine around 10am, but on the Saturday 2 weeks ago (the day of the Lions game at TS).

                  I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

Phone sellers are easy to get rid of.

                    a) if you have kids under 5, give them the phone.

                    or

                    b) no kids under 5, just put the phone down (don't hang up) and walk away, they eventually hang up.
