We need a key position backman which is what LRT is being groomed to become. He played well in the trials and although he didn't have a great game against Hawthorn it would be mad to drop him IMO.
He is still learning.I don't see the point in dropping him after one game and replace him with a run of the mill midfielder.

Check his stats for the game. Far worse than S. Maxfield who has copped it. Worse than Saddo or Fosdike at the height of their bagging.

Expectations are different though. Both Saddo and Fosdike were 100 gamers at the time, Maxfield is supposed to be the leader. LRT is learning his trade at the moment.

LRT is not merely a passenger ATM, but a passenger getting in the way. I hope they don't "let him learn" on Rocca this week: he will be mauled and Rocca will run rampant.

I understand that the first game of the year as a young player playing on a more experienced player will naturally be a nervous one and I appreciate that a disciplined defenseman can have a blinder of a game with very few possessions if he keeps a gun forward to no goals. So fine, give him a few weeks, but how much time does he have before we (for example) bring in Saddo?

Are trying to win the flag this year?

I don't mind if we don't win it this year as long as we all have fun and everyone gets a turn.

Oh come now, who really thinks we are realistically after a flag this year? Especially after last year which was wasted through injuries.

i thought we were trying to win some games easily then have stupid losses and gradually throw away the season with a big loss early in the finals

There is only the journey . . . the rest is just illusion.

Everyone knows this . . . except the cynics . . . they are hypnotised by the illusion.

I certainly hope so. Sunday was certainly a solid start to his reinvention.

But that might not be nearly cynical enuff for some on this forum.
