Rodney, I am sorry for bagging you.
I think after a few years players (and coach) go into safety mode, rather than free-wheeling, allowed-to-do-things-wrong mode. Makes for crap football.
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

1998, 1999, 2000, 2001 sloooowwwwly going down the gurgler with a defensive style that fostered mediocrity and coach's survival.

2002 Revolution, new coach promises new attacking style.
2003 play inspired run on attacking footy and nearly pull off a miracle.
2004 we look forward to more inspired exhillerating footy but notice that an old pattern emerges. Coach finds a copy of previous coach's manual in top drawer in coaches room.
Go out in semi final similar to 90's style.

2005 recruited experienced players, one doesn't play 1st 2 rounds because not in best 22. Lose round 2 in similar type of game against St Kilda in 2002, only difference is we drew game in 2002. Players seem to be in a rut of a defensive mode (refer 2002). When they do break clear have no idea what to do. Alah Nicks - one bounce 2 bounces sprints through the centre seemingly to kick long one out to FF one on one. But oh no he does the team thing and over possesses/handpasses to a player covered in front by Roos player who picks it off - was it a goal to the Roos?
Bolton J bolts clear on the wing twice (my god I have a free run here what do I do) and kicks straight to an opponent 20 metres on his own, twice.

It goes on and on and on.

Role back the clock folks because if nothing happens to this "game plan" we are in for a repeat era.

We do have players with flare and run, for crying out loud Roos do something about in now. Where is the new style and game plan you promised us and probably the board when you put your 5 year plan up to get the job.

      Richard where are you?

It appears our coach may not have the faith in his players to play anything but mediocre footy. Gee those blokes who were there when Roos took over must be totally confused. But then again get in the finals and the coach's salary will be justified.

This is the best post on here.
A litany of reasons why Paul Roos has proven no better than his predecessor.
With Rodney (the great satan for bringing the ultra flood into the game and ruining it as a spectacle) Eade, at least you knew you would get some innovation.
Roos's team is just plain insipid.

Roos has done admirably with the cattle available. We did not kill the game yesterday North did, and to good effect. I saw North vs Carlton last week at the dome and North did the same as yesterday, kicked backwards many many times, sat on the ball, took a long long time for kicks and played a spare man in defence. It looked like a Malthouse team.

Whenever we pressured their defence they stuffed it up but we either did not capitalise on it or gave them another chance. Why did our zone allow them two and three uncontested kicks at every kickout?

If we had flooded back then slow slow players like Sav, Grant and Hale would not have take uncontested marks when it mattered.

The reviews are saying both teams kicked backwards, I would say the backwards kicks would have numbered maybe 12-4 Norths way. We tried to play our fast break football missed targets, the goals and indeed the entire oval in that order.
Sports do not build character. They reveal it....Heywood Broun

I always turn to the sports pages first, which record people's accomplishments. The front page has nothing but man's failures......Earl Warren

We will not win a flag with Roos - he just isn't good enough. Sydney needs one of the big name coaches with proven results. Would Blight move South? All the others are taken. They also need to play more interesting football before too many supporters give up. I watch lots of games and Swans games really are BORING.

Spot on. The Roos played the game we are always acccused of playing. And it worked for them too - it was just about impossible to get any run.

On Monday the Swans could skip practise and head for the optometrists. The one thing the Roos did much better than us was to successfully kick to a lead. There's no point in lamenting that we don't kick long if every time we do it results in a turnaround. Can't we see our free players up the field? Then it'd be nice if we accurately kicked to them.

geez this place gets pretty negative after a loss. Any time the swans lose everyone thinks the whole team needs drastic changes and is in terrible trouble, and if we win we should prepare for the terrible trouble :P

its one bloody loss, hopefully come septemeber we wont even care at all.

I think the players will see they stuffed up big time on saturday and use it to spur them on to better performances.

is anyone keeping a ratio of footyheads post when we win and lose i think its about 2 a week when we win and 400 when we lose!

You know, people say that after every loss when other people have a whinge. And it's been said a lot. So obviously we lose too much, so it's not just "one bloody loss"...

fair enough, buts its round 2 and i hope the players arent as worried as the supporters seem to be.

If we keep losing in the same fashion as this week then we are in deep s#@#t but until that happens.....
