    Team v Brisbane

I think its about time we started looking towards the future, as it is clear we can not win a premiership with the current team that steps out onto the park for us each week. Although we should make the eight, I think we should now try a few players to see where they are at. I believe we have to give our young midfielders plenty of game time this year, as it is possible that this may be Williams and Maxfields last season and our other on ballers really don't seem to have that much talent, eg Fosdike.

    So my experimental team is:

    Mathews C Bolton Crouch

    Dempster R-Thompson Barry

    Ablett Williams Kirk

    O'Keefe Hall Malceski

    Moore O'Loughlin Davis

    Jolly Goodes J Bolton

    Inter Ball Saddington Spriggs Schmidt

    Thoughts?

Not missing, but in my opinion they don't deserve a start, with McVeigh being the possible exception.

          The changes I would make:
          Nicks, Schneider out
          Spriggs, Dempster in

There is no need to panic. Yes, we had a loss and our skills were pretty atrocious but that doesn't mean to throw the season away.

and yet you advocate dropping our best young midfielder?

Moore seems to have a footy brain but I think needs this year to work on his skills and fitness in the Reserves. I think he is underdone.

Dempster has looked "competent", but thats about it. He certainly deserves a chance in the seniors but he won't be a saviour. Also having the Hyphen and Dempster together on the backline is probably a bit suicidal at this point.

McVeigh, Bucky, Bevan, Kennelly and even, probably, Schneider still deserve to be in the team.

I would like to see Saddo coming back on the wing - it would be good to get some more mobile big men in the midfield.

Nicks played well and won't be dropped, my guess is LRT will make way for dempster and Schneider out for Spriggs/Fossie

And who would that be? If you mean Mcveigh his two games this year have been ordinary, also the reason why he is supposedly our best young midfielder, is that the other guys have yet to be given a chance to prove themselves.

                  Nicks played well, yeah right.....

Two handballs straight to the opposition and then gets moved onto S.Grant in the last qrtr, who kicked three goals, Nicks really played well.....He was the worst of a bad lot.....

                  Get rid of him....

Goodes is a space cadet who is an athlete first and footballer last. If someone got into his brain about being a footballer first, the sky is the limit for A.Goodes. Until that day, Goodes will provide frustation for many games and years to come....I reccomend that Roosy starts Goodes as Ruck-Rover, with the motto from the coaching panel to Adam being "Run Adam, run, run, run"....

B.Hall starting the season with 4 goals 8 behinds doesn't help either....

Schneider isn't a midfielder yet, give the boy a run in the FP with occasional periods on the ball before making assumptions to drop him.

We played poorly, but North played only a fraction better - and that was because of there accuracy on the scoreboard. You don't win footy games kicking 7.17 too often.....

You don't win many games kicking 7 goals!! If you do then it's either because it's really wet or you've played some of the most boring football known to mankind!

Last year we kicked 287 goals - this is less than the 288 goals we kicked in 1994 when we won 4 games! In the past 30 years the only times we have kicked less goals during the H&A season were in 1993 (1 win), 1992 (2 wins), 1990 (5 wins), and 1975 (2 wins). That's pretty ordinary - we need to kick goals!

Nicks did take a great mark just outside the goal square, followed by a backward somersault. After that, my mind goes mercifully blank.

One bad game from a few talented youngsters (Kennelly, Bevan, McVeigh and Schneider) and you're calling for heads, give me a spell......

It's the older players in Nicks, Ball and Maxfield (I was WRONG) who should only be dropped, as there minds are willing but there bodies are not up to it any longer.

I can't see what the addition of new and inexperienced players such as Malceski, Moore, Schmidt and Dempster for talented youngsters such as Kennelly, Bevan, McVeigh and Schneider would benefit the Sydney Swans but set them back another 5-6 season in planning. The time is NOW, not another bl**dy 5-6 seasons, for this football club to win a flag....

Or isn't 72 years between flags enough for you ? Maybe an even 80 years sounds better for you......

One bad game of inaccurate kicking and bad disposal coupled with being bought down to the Kangaroos abilities level doesn't maketh a season finished....

The Blues of 1995 lost two games to middle of the table teams (Sydney & St.Kilda) in the early part of the season before cruising to the flag - although I am not saying that we are as good as that Carlton team but we should/could give the flag a shake this season along with four or five other teams....

That is a really amazing statistic. I'm gobsmacked. Or maybe Simon Minton-Connell wasn't as bad as I thought.

Paul Roos and coaching staff take note of these stats.

Please, please, please Paul Roos, we look a better team and are more efficient when we run the ball down the lines with deep kicks into attack to our forward options of Hall, O'Keefe, Davis, O'Loughlin, Schneider etc etc rather than the current stop-start, hold the ball like keepings off, playing wide, opposition stacking there backline, "Ball-up" Ben Mathews type of game plan....

It does seem strange (especially with the forward line we have) that we would give the opposition time to flood back and fill the space. Or did the Roos drop a handfull of players back there for the whole game?
